2024 Colors - What on earth were they thinking?

Was checking out the 'Build and Buy' this morning and noticed that the gallery photos showed a Rapid Red Lightning, but the Lariat Build and Buy only shows this color selection:

So you can get two different 'whites', a silver, a black, and a blue that is so dark that it might as well be black (yes, I've seen it in person).

If you want Rapid Red now, you have to buy a Platty.

Why isn't there a proper Blue...e.g "Lightning Blue", "Velocity Blue", "Performance Blue", even "Blue Jean Blue"? Where did those colors go?

If you want widespread adoption of your largest selling Lightning trim level (Lariat), then why don't you make every effort to provide a full color palate instead of blacks, whites, and silver/gray?

It looks like you're trying to compete with Honda Odyssey sales instead of getting people excited about your world class EV truck.

I'm not surprised that you've had to shut down production because of low demand. Colors choices like what's available now aren't making the purchase decision easier.

At least I've got my Atlas Blue '22....

Absolutely. Marketing miss is an understatement.

Not offering Lightning Blue at least on the first year as a launch option (like First Edition MMEs) was a big mistake I think.

My 3 previous F-150s had been some variation of that color. I really miss it.

But things now are so much worse.

Look at the bland choices we have now.

You can get rapid red on the 2024 Flash. I think Flash is their best selling trim now anyway.

I beg to differ. Before I bought my Lariat (iconic silver) I visited a Ford dealer and on the lot they had a black and an anti matter blue ICE truck parked less than 30ft apart. On a cloudy day from 2 car lengths away I couldn't tell them apart.

But I agree the color choices were lacking. (four shades of gray?)

I so glad I was able to get Ice Blue Silver in 22. Ford is not alone with boring color palates. Several other manufacturers have done the same thing - allegedly in the name of customer color preferences. I recently read an article about this phenomenon and the changes since the 1970s. Same, I love my Ice Blue Lightning and while I'm glad I was able to get it in 22, but it's still insane that Ford just keeps whittling away at the available color options for their prized electric truck. Pretty soon we're gonna reach Model T levels of color selection. ("You can have any color you like as long as it's black.")

Planning on getting my Lightning wrapped in the new year, so stock colour didn't play a big part of my buying decision. That being said, I agree, the new colours on offer is very bland. Not even from just Ford, but even the Silverado EV is only offered in black or white at the moment.

Welp, for 2025, both the GMC Sierra EV and the Silverado EV will be offered in some exciting colors (Chevy names): 3 different blues - one of which is a matte color, orange and slate gray. This is in addition to black and white.
Ford should take note.

It's Ford. You can have any color you want as long as it is a shade of grey.

Honestly, as someone who loves bold/loud colors on their vehicles, color selection is my least favorite thing about the Lighting.
