2024 F-150 Lightning XLT
I was set to buy a 2024 Pro, but they weren’t going to arrive before Jan 1, so I found a 2024 XLT that would work. The “Build and Price” system said the Lightning XLT would have the Tow Technology package included. Great! In the Tow Technology package, the “Build and Price” system says it includes the “Forward Sensing System”. Great Again! When we found the exact truck, the window sticker said it includes “Forward Sensing System”. Triple Great! I picked up the truck and was happy.

I’m sitting in the driveway with my new truck; in drive with foot on the brake. Neighbor’s 3 year old sails past the front of my truck on his strider. Not a peep out of the truck. WTF?

Very long story short, Ford no longer installs the “Forward Sensing System” in 2024 Ford F-150 Lightnings with XLT trim. Even though the “Build and Price” system says it’s standard and installed, and the window sticker says it’s installed. Build Sheet confirms it is NOT installed and a proprietary “Major Product Changes” document confirms the “Forward Sensing System” is DELEATED from the Tow Tech Package on the 311A equipment group. Finally, pretty obvious since there are no front bumper proximity sensors.

Now what?

Option #1: Return the truck – Dealer not interested.

Option #2: Add the wiring harness, sensors, and bumper with holes and Ford Reprogram – Dealer not interested (yet)

Option #3: According to a Lemon law attorney, I’ll need to take the truck in three times to have them fix the Forward Sensing System before I can start the Oregon Lemon Law process – UGGH!!

Option #4: Get the hardware from dealer @ cost and FORScan it into existence

Option #5: Get the hardware myself and FORScan it into existence

Question(s): Are options $4 & #5 actually options with FORScan? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Sue for false advertising. I’ve noticed a few things that Ford advertises but isn’t actually true.

Do this one and make sure to file a complaint with DMV and Oregon’s Attorney Generals office for false advertising. They will not want to loose their dealers license and be subject to a suit on the state’s behalf against them and @Ford Motor Company as they know the will loose if the window sticker says it was installed. That is a fraudulent activity and the state loved suing the crap out of companies for that. Ask Safeway 🙂🤣😂

I’d make the dealer fix it or unwind the deal and sell you a Flash trim that has the forward sensors.

Sorry you've been caught in such a mess. Someone definitely $@!#ed up that sticker.

Turns out my 2024 XLT has the same issue: The sticker says "FORWARD SENSING SYSTEM" and "PRE-COLLISION ASSIST W/AEB", but there are no ultrasonic sensors in the bumper, and there doesn't seem to be a radar behind it (adaptive cruise certainly doesn't work!). I wonder how many of us have been affected by this problem?

Edit: The pre-collision assist is in the menus, so it seems to be present (based only on camera, no radar, so not optimal...but better than a completely unsupervised ape behind the wheel). No ultrasonic sensors have appeared on the bumper, though.

Looks as if Ford owes us an explanation of what Forward Sensing means if the sensors aren't there!

Other XLT drivers on the forum: How about you? Do your stickers advertise something that's not present?

Odd that the window sticker say's it's included, would have expected a {DELETE} credit if they ran out of parts for the spec build.

My dealer did the same thing! They even gave me this form when I bought the vehicle.

My XLT has neither Stop-and-Go or Lane Centering. They did offer to take it back but the Flash cost of $8k more put the monthly out of my budget and I do still like the truck.

My biggest pet peeve is that these option were standard on the low level trim of the cheaper Tacoma I traded in as well as my 3 year old Outback.

What the hell Ford. Way to cheap out on the wrong features.

Take this to ford.
They should fix it up with a credit. If not, return the truck and get one that has the option.

It seems they pulled the mention from the USA site but the Canadian site mentions it. I'm assuming it was a rehash from the 2023 literature that was missed.

Thanks! My "pre-collision assist" works (set sensitivity to high to test), but it doesn't use the proximity sensors. I DMed the Ford Representative that watches this forum. I'll report back his response. I'd be very surprised if any 2024 XLT owner has the sensors.

I'm thinking they replaced their communication and marketing department with AI and just screwed up.

I've got a phone appointment with a Portland OR firm for an initial assessment. I spoke earlier to a junior associate covering the Christmas week phones. It was also recommended that Better Business Bureau has an Automotive Arbitration service I might try. I do like the truck, so I'd prefer just to figure out how to get Ford to allow my dealer to modify the as-built data. I think my dealer wants to, but needs approval from FoMoCo.

I just pulled up the "Ford Build and Price" web site and if you select XLT it shows it comes with the Tow Technology package and when you click the "information" icon it opens a box that says "Forward Sensing System" as part of the Tow technology system. Dealer was convinced it should be there, but doesn't want to cross Ford by changing the as-built data with Ford system tools.

I'm very interested to hear how this plays out. I have a 22 XLT EG 311a And I have added Blue Cruise and Passive Entry and a few other things, It's unclear to me how capable FDRS Is with changing module configuration one bit at a time which is what is necessary to add features. I'm curious if FDRS provides an easy method like FORScan or if the service text would literally have to go edit the XML of As-Built files, then use FDRS to dump them in. I have never heard of a dealer capable of adding a factory feature. I've always assumed it's actually a capability issue, that Ford does not provide an easy method with FDRS to do such a thing. With how big the modification community is, there has to be someone on here who Is a service tech, has free access to FDRS, and in the know.
