What are people’s thoughts on a whole house circuit breaker?

Those of you that understand this, what does the worst scenario case mean? You get juice in neural in the house and fry sensitive electronics? Has it happened to anyone before?

I unplugged and also put my solar and backup system into off-grid mode. There's not really a reason not to, even if being just a little too cautious.

I could see the lights tonight...near Pittsburgh:

The worst case scenario is that you wake up in the morning and notice you don't need to turn on a light, because you're glowing in the dark.

There is no risk to your home or devices. There are risks to utility systems, but the chance that yours fails and sends a surge through to you is very, very, very small.
