So on a road trip this week I managed to run over the tread from a tire the tractor trailer in front of me lost and broke the active air dam loose on the drivers side. The motors look OK as far as I can tell and I think it might be a simple job to remove the six screws and bolt up a new air dam.

Has anyone done this that can share their experience? Any tips, tricks or gotchas?

Thanks!

Yes, it is just 6 screws. Keep in mind that gas F-150s have it also. You'll find a bunch of info if you Google.

I have it removed now. It was as easy as it looked in the videos I watched before coming here for more input. 10 minute job tops.

The actuator is broken too, or at least the part the air dam / valance mounts to so that adds to the cost if I decide to repair it. Like double the parts cost with that included. Considering that I did not notice a great deal of difference in efficiency on the remainder of my drive back, around 400 miles, I am leaning towards just leaving it off. Most of my daily driving is in town so the thing would not even activate under those conditions.

Just in case anyone else is curious, here are what I think the part numbers are for what I needed for my 2023 Lightning XLT. Those seem to be hard to track down from what I have read in the forums. Please confirm since the descriptions seem a little odd to me.

Does the truck throw an error or dash light with it disconnected and removed?

No errors or lights with the valance removed. Both actuators are still connected at the moment.

Like other features designed to improve mileage, "noticing" the impact in an uncontrolled environment doesn't correlate with "it doesn't improve mileage".

I saw someone previously posted a screen mesh, to protect the active air damn. Does anyone have more info on that ?

Dam...

It protects the radiator and louvers, not the active air dam.

I do not disagree.
