2024 Lightning ER Lariat
2024 Lariat ER with only 5k miles. I have Blue Cruise and noticed that when I use the Auto Lane Change feature on the highway going 65mph the process is not smooth. While the lane change is accomplished the steering feels very incremental. It feels like it makes several (4 or 5 I'd say) little turn steps to accomplish the task. Are others feeling that? I expected it to perhaps make only 1. Even if it was two steps I could see that and might make some sense, but 4 or 5 seems odd. Either the software does the 4 or 5 steps intentionally OR maybe the linkage from the motor that turns the steering mechanicals needs lube?

May depend on which Blue Cruise version you are on? Mine is very smooth, but I also have all the latest updates. However, I have a 23 lariat so I cannot speak to the 24!

As far as I know it's the latest. I have no pending updates.

I've noticed the notchiness on corners that are a little sharp for the speed I'm going. Lane changes seem smooth enough but I can't say I've paid close attention.

For context, prior to BC1.4 it barely stayed in it's own lane and actual lane changes didn't exist.

I find my 24's Lane changing to be very smooth though I am traveling slight faster at around 70 to 75MPH.

The first couple of times I tried the lane changing it was for very short stints only and I don't think I detected the notches. Most recently I had some longer drives and it was certainly there. Maybe it's been doing it all along and I was too new to it in those first short tests.

The 2024's came with BC 1.2. So far no report of any OTA update to BC 1.4 for that year. So you have the latest for 2024 trucks.
Some 2022 and 2023 have received BC 1.4 via OTA. Likely an early test group.

Otherwise folks have enabled 1.4 by doing manual updates via FDRS and FORScan. Or they had their dealer do the Front Sensor CSP last year which gave them BC 1.2/1.3 with a FORScan mod.

Thank you. I didn't realize a new(ish) truck would start off with software that old.

It is possible. Though this is my second Lightning so I wouldn't say I'm new to it. I had a 2022 SR Lariat for 2 years. I would say that my experience has been close to the same and at times I find the 24 better.
