I knew this day was coming, but I thought it would be sometime late next year.

I’ve had my F150 lightning for six months and put 14,000 miles on it. I’m a long term Ford F150 owner.

But I’m not gonna lie, my truck has an MSRP of $80,000 and I’m looking at a Silverado LT premium with the same MSRP that does 390 miles of range versus my trucks 320. And it tows 2500 pounds more.

Now Ford put some money on the hood when I bought my truck, and that makes it an easier pill to swallow. But I’m sure that money will be on the hood of the Silverado soon enough. They’re already discounting the RST.

Ford has got to step up to the plate in a major way. And it’s going to have to come from software updates.

Ford already has the advantage in that regard because they still support CarPlay and GM does not.

But Ford, come on, you need to be putting everybody you have on getting the latest blue Cruise updates to your existing lightning owners and early adopters. Or you’re not gonna be able to keep us.
Just curious, did you realize the Silverado EV is a unibody platform? Not a real truck!

I wonder if the infotainment system works better. Like staying connected to the phone, that sort of basic stuff. FORD.

The Silverado doesn't offer Apple Carplay or Android Auto - just a basic bluetooth connection for audio streaming.

The Silverado might compare favorably to Lightning for some consumers. If you want longer range, higher payload, and/or higher towing capacity the Silverado might be for you. It's a newer platform so it stands to reason it would be more advanced than Lightning, which was presumably it's benchmark.

That said, what consumers want and what consumers need or use aren't necessarily the same thing. In the nearly two years I've owned my Lightning range has never been an issue, I've never approached the max tow capacity, and I've never left anything behind due to maxing out the payload capacity... though I have exceeded the payload capacity a couple times.😆

Maybe the Lightning isn't the "best" EV truck but it's still an excellent vehicle. I'd have to see how the GM infotainment system works but I use Android Auto exclusively and wouldn't want to give it up. I also like the luxury features of my truck and wouldn't want to trade them for capabilities that I wouldn't use.

The Silverado seems pretty nice. If I were in the market for a new truck I'd look at it.

I would never buy a vehicle that does not have CarPlay. It seamlessly works with my phone (which works seamlessly with my computer.) Never going back!!

If Ford would increase the battery size so we could get 400+ miles, I would jump on it. Love my Ford but I need (want) more range and faster DC charging.

Being a unibody doesn't mean its not a real truck.

Just because you circle it doesn’t make it so. I’ve had a couple Honda Ridgeline’s over the years and they weren’t considered real trucks by the reviewers , because of it having a unibody construction. TFL, etc all say the same…. But now Ford Maverick is a “truck” I guess it’s ok… The Cybertruck is not a real truck either, no frame. Try to tow the max weight and see what happens. The casting has known to break off with you hitch.

You guys need to stop it with the, "not a real truck crap." By your standard, cars aren't real cars because originally they were body on frame too.

If they told you to go buy a Yugo would you do it? I didn't buy my truck because some youtuber put his stamp of approval on it. And why are you assuming everyone who wants a truck is going to tow the max? Let people decide for themselves.

And BTW, you do realize some F250 and F350 drivers out there don't think you drive "a real truck" either.
