Mike,

Have you received any response from Ford relating to the information you have posted about this potential script error? It would be nice to know if they are aware and are looking into it. One would think it would be to Ford's advantage to get to the bottom of the issue since the warranty costs for resolving the failed module(s) are higher.
I haven't heard anything at all about this from anyone.

I don't actually expect to.

Even if I told them I was using a PL6100 and a VCM3 and have taken the FDRS training, (all of which is true) they might not even believe there's a problem unless technicians on their own forum start asking questions about it as well. 🤷‍♂️

Well Sparky went in Friday to have the IPMA update ran (along with a few other CSP issues). They had the truck all day Friday and the update continually fails. Dealership called Saturday saying it was still failing and to check back Monday.

I really like my dealership (Cook County Ford) and have a good rapport with their service department. The last thing I want is for them to brick Sparky, especially with the cold weather storms coming in this week. I will rely on the truck if the power goes out.

What should I tell them to try next? I read in this thread to make sure the 12v battery is being actively charged and set correctly for the Lightning and to have them watch for communication errors when updating in FDRS. Also to run the IPMA Configuration tool in FDRS once the update is applied. Anything else? I also don't want to come across as an arrogant ass. I've been in IT for 30 years and know how finicky updates can be, and Ford seems to struggle in this area. Something is definitely amiss if Ford's own bulletins to dealerships include an additional 10 hours for failing IPMA updates or replacement modules due to failures.
Well, maybe they should try doing the programming when the 12V battery isn't at 29% SOC and use a powersupply. That would help. (Insert Ron White quote here).

Using a powersupply during CANBus programming is not optional.

Well that explains that. I'll definitely be calling them as soon as they open if not leave a message now before they do damage with something that will take longer to resolve. Thanks you @Mike G for looking into that and tracing the problem down.

Update: No updates 😑. Stopped by Monday and they charged the 12v battery to 80% and tried again. Still getting failures. They were closed on my way home today (Tuesday) due to the snow coming in.

They gave me a loaner yesterday. It’s a 21’ Bronco Sport. Spacious interior, but going to this after 2.5 years all electric is shocking. Gas feels so inefficient and “clobbered together”. I truly feel like if most people drove an equivalent electric to their current car for a month then the traditional gas car market would collapse. And that’s even with the current issue with firmware on the truck.

So I was told to bring my truck back in today and they'll try to do this CSP 24B56 install again. Back in October when the CSP failed I was told they were going to have to replace the sensor.
