I had the same experience - my dealership didn't have easy access to the records for deposit and I had to show my Ford order online plus I gave them the date of the credit card charge for $500.
When I was doing my paperwork with the dealer on Monday, I was planning on reminding them that they owed me $600. Before I could bring it up, they handed me two sheets of paper saying that my credit card that I used for the Reservation and order would be automatically credited back to my credit card. I just received notification that those credits have been applied. Apparently, one’s experience is highly predicated upon the knowledge and integrity of the dealer. I must be one of the lucky ones.

Back in January when I was invited to order, I changed dealers. Changing dealers initiated the refund of my $100 and happened within 2 days, without it even being discussed. My $500 deposit, which came up after I had signed papers they told me would take a couple of weeks and would be a check from Ford. I haven't seen it two weeks later, but not worried it is on my list for when I got pick up my plates.

Either way, I'm glad your dealer is proactive, but truly most of these dealers are taking a crap in the dark.

Two things here - I get the zero's on surveys - I want to rate my dealer that way all day long - but PLEASE DON'T - it doesn't affect not one single one of the salaried jack asses you deal with in the back office.

Every one of those ratings affect the salesman out front (I know they do very little for a Lightning sale) but the dealers truly adjust their pay based on those ratings. They will lose pay for a low rating. The salesman is the only one that gets hurt out of a bad survey.

The other jack asses laugh all the way to the bank. I can promise you that if any of them have been there very long they all knew the $100 can be charged back to Ford. If they don't then I truly won't trust any of them to delivery my Amazon packages. They knew 100% what they were doing and they were going to make $200 - $100 from you and $100 from Ford. So at least he gave you the $200.

You are correct - I checked with the So Cal regional Ford rep and a bad survey hurts the sales person and F&I manager.

The survey copy is sent to the dealership for them to review but more so for FoMoCo - they are pushing for 5 star reviews.

My beef was with dealer's sales manager on their high desk...

Thanks to @GDN and @Amps for clearing this up.

Bunch of you have been nothing but helpful, funny and awfully informative - almost too much information!

these 'surveys' are loaded. they don't represent the actual experience that a customer has, but are more about trying to leverage or twist the arm of the customer into giving them a 5 star rating, even IF the dealership did a poor job - the reason the survey only hurts the salesman is that they know this can play on your sympathies, even though the salesman might have been spectacular, and the management/F&I very, very poor. It's not about true feedback, but only the ability to then state that they have a '5 Star Customer Service Rating'...
hurting the upfront salesperson is the only way they can get you to go ahead with a 5 star rating...

I bought a KIA out of state in March. The salesman was spectacular, and I had no issues giving HIM a 5-star rating, but the dealing with the F&I and trying to manage the out-of-state purchase was a very time-consuming and chasing-my-tail experience. That part should have it's own 'survey'.
