You absolutely can file for both. I won't get into the rules - they are on the IRS web site, you just have to have enough tax liability to qualify for the full money back. You likely already know that and do.

Yeah I have enough tax liability . I looked over the form but couldn’t find anything about multiple credits (I see there’s two cars available to be put on the form) but also didn’t know if there was a hidden holding period.

BBB seems to be way dead and I've not heard of any other broken up bills to replace it. I don't know how any law maker can push a bill like this (EV rebate) with a straight face in the economy and situation we are in. There is a line a mile long for any EV that is worthy of buying. Tesla just raised the based price for the Model 3 and Y by $4K - we'll see if anyone even blinks or if they still run a 3 to 6 month deficit. Ford is not much different right now. I'm just hoping we get this years truck without a price increase.

if I pick up a Mach E on lot this week and then if my Lightning is built and and I take delivery and trade in Mach E this year do I get to file for 2 EV credits?

Yes, hopefully ...you have a tax value on line 18 equal to or greater than 15,000 plus any amount on line 19 to absorb all the credits.

Then any excess wage withholdings, estimated deposits and other refundable credits will be refunded to you.

I like to reiterate that taxes on line 23 can not be reduced by non-refundable credits.

Nothing happened last week which was an every-other-Thursday week, in line with previous ordering waves. Is there even a slight chance anything happens tomorrow?

It’s my understanding that Ford typically schedules every Thursday but, due to supplier defaults, they didn’t schedule most models last week and (I think) aren’t scheduling tomorrow either.

It has been every other Thursday, so far. That was the case for the Mach E too.

So far we've seen updates on, 2/23, 2/24, 3/3, (two consecutive weeks) then there was an announcement to the dealers the F150 and several other lines would not have build weeks issued on 3/10 and potentially through the end of March.

I'm holding up hope they might release more build weeks on 3/17

If we all dedicate to hitting refresh two weeks from tomorrow (3/31) we may crash the site and all the procrastinators who put off ordering to the last moment won't be be able to order, leading to more trucks available for the catch up invites

Yes, except there's one caveat. Inactive CPA here. You cannot take the credit if you purchase an EV with the intent to resell it. That's a gray area and would be tough for the IRS to prove. You can take as many credits as you buy EV's, up to the total amount of your tax liability, and the credit cannot be given to anyone else or carried over to another year if it exceeds your taxes in the current year.

Since tomorrow is St. Patrick's day then drinking for celebration is the call. Hopefully about 1:30 pm EDT there are reports of Lightning's being scheduled and we can all celebrate.

As @TaxmanHog said above, thus far Lightning scheduling seems to march to it's own beat. It is not tied to F-150 scheduling and does not have a separate line on the scheduling worksheet.
