I'm humbled by the folks that have reached out to assist with my CCM. ?

I'm not in a position to address it right away today, but if what I'm reading (between the lines) is that I will at least need a non-nano device to approach the repair attempt, I'll take wisdom from the gurus.

I don't mind, but if I'm going to purchase another, I don't want to scrimp. I guess I'm asking is the mongoose the way to go or is there advantages to paying even more for an alternative?

If answering this could be confusing or misleading on the thread, feel free to pm me. I have had great success with the nano and don't want to unfairly intimidate new folks joining. My only advice, in addition to what's already been shared is DON'T be the first person to do a brand new update. Lol.

Leading edge is fun
Bleeding edge is.... Well, bloody lousy. ?

Also, do you have a charger on that battery? Look at your voltage! If your charger supports 20 amps switch it now!
Yes I have it on power supply. I just switched to charge at 20amps.

Which charger do you have? The recommended one and if so, you had it on Power Supply mode and not charge mode?

This is what Opus says about the Mongoose Plus: https://www.opusivs.com/products/j2534-pass-thru/mongooseplus/ford?hsLang=en

I found it reassuring.

WARNING - FOR FOLKS USING THE VCX NANO DEVICE

We suspect, the VCX Nano does not perform well with certain devices on FD CAN bus. We are still investigating this but in the mean time please refrain from flashing the CCM module as there is a high chance of bricking it.

If you bricked your module (showing up as Purple in FDRS) you can fix it by PMI-ing the module in FDRS using the Mongoose-Plus cable, or any of the official Fords adapter (VCMII or VCM3).

Folks using the Mongoose-Plus device should be good to go
Appreciate the heads up on this one. Looks like I'm waiting until my Mongoose arrives on Tuesday to attempt this. For once my hesitancy paid off...

No. If your charger has a power supply mode, that’s what you want. The name of the game is to maintain constant voltage when flash programming. Unfortunately, battery chargers are designed to keep amps fixed but vary voltage. Power supplies do the opposite—they keep voltage fixed and allow amps to vary. So, if you have a power supply mode on your charger, use it! If you don’t, make sure you start your programming session with a fully-charged battery. Don’t rush the process.

For those interested in a short tutorial on Ford module programming using FJDS that Opus (the Mongoose manufacturer) made, it discusses the differences between battery chargers and power supplies and why the latter is preferred for module programming. It isn’t terribly useful otherwise, but if you’re bored. . . .

What's the charge reading? You won't get to 100% and your voltage will come up slowly as your charge comes up....

Power Supply mode is not maintaining the voltage, switching to 20 amp charge will get him back to where he needs to be. 11.6v is dangerously low...
