APIM update should not take longer that 15-20 minutes from the point when it instructs you to "Not Remove the USB Drive" on your Sync screen. You should get this prompt minutes after inserting the USB drive into the truck's media hub. Once update is installed, you should be presented with "Restart Required" message. If you haven't received the prompt on your Sync screen, your APIM update did not kick off and there is no point waiting. It is possible your APIM is the "limbo" mode after failed 1.7.1 OTA just like many users on this thread experienced.

I didn't fail 1.7.1 but I did on 2.3.0. I messaged you...

i think i'm in the same boat as @speedracercjr ... no dice on it catching the APIM upgrade from USB. i've done module resets (GWM and APIM) and the GWM and TCU are both up to date, so looks like i'm in a waiting game :)
Good luck and I wish I had some advice on what works. I tried literally everything the folks on here threw at me and nothing definitive kicked it over. It was totally random and I was just driving down the road when it kicked in.

Everything is updated with the exception of the APIM...I need to go get a 64GB USB stick. But I have the following DTCs that will not clear. Any ideas? The GWM error says it's an ethernet failure when trying to communicate with the IPMA. How do I fix that?

Trying to update APIM -- it shows in my list, but when I try to install it I get the following error. It worked once before, but I didn't have good USB stick. Now that i've got a good 128GB, it's not working.

Yep. Done that quite a few times but they won’t clear. They are all interrelated so until I can fix the Ethernet issue none will clear.
I’ve seen DTCs immediately after updating modules that cleared on their own. I wouldn’t worry about them yet. Finish with the APIM. Then drive around for a couple of days and give the modules an opportunity to play together. Then take another look and see what’s still outstanding.

This would be issue on Ford server side. Once files are downloaded to FDRS, the tool requests the “mothership” to provide a signed manifest file. This file ensures that the downloaded update files can be installed only on your truck. I would suggest to wait and try to run the update later

I copied the APIM files from my “bad” usb to my new one. That seems to have worked as my system says it’s currently updating. Hopefully it finishes without issue.

AND IT WORKED! I got the restart vehicle message. Going in to my son’s hockey game so it’s got plenty of time to sit and do it’s thing. It’ll be an hour before I can start it back up.

So has anyone seen an IPC update for the 12” cluster in the wild for Job1’s?
I’m starting to get the itch now that I know I’m so close to using BlueCruise

The restart loop is really freaking annoying. I'm trying to get my TCU out of the loop and its fighting me per the usual.

Sorry if I missed it mentioned elsewhere but did you try the CAN method?
If yes then try rebooting the apim, tcu, GWM modules with FORScan.
Another thing that I forgot was my tcu update always failed, but I ignored it and moved on to another module. At some point, I had to restart FRDS so I ran a new network scan. Then the TCU update was gone. I validated that it was working and that it was updated.

The TCU should be updatable via the CANbus as well. I remember that Jesse had issues having the TCU updated and used CANbus to update it instead. The only downside to it is, that it will take significantly longer than over USB (1-2 hours vs 5-10 minutes).

Another thing you might try is to disconnect your battery for 10-15 minutes, that shuts down the TCU for sure! Unless you have a PowerBoost which has a separate power supply. I was struggling with this "restart required" loop myself, so I started improvising here. I disconnected the battery, after reconnection I got one more "Restart Required", I exited the truck, closed the door, let it sit for 35mins. After that it stuck.

Man I always appreciate the tips, will be trying the battery disconnect trick (Ecoboost) tomorrow to see if it works!

Yes I did try the CAN method but it instantly fails. It's almost like it doesn't even really make an attempt, click "OK" and about 2 seconds later it says failed with no reason why.
