I saw that, but as far as software updates go you'd think it's a matter of it either works or it doesn't and not that "best results" could mean we'll brick certain functionality if you don't use a VCM3.
I know that the VCM 3 is a lot faster than a VCM 2 or a comparable J2534 device like the Mongoose + Ford, or Bosch Master Tech. I believe what they are trying to tell the techs is that if you have a VCM 3 in the shop, put down the VCM 2, and go get the VCM 3 out of the cabinet because this will be faster using that. I don't think the issue is whether or not the success rate of the update will be impacted....it's just a lot faster.

I did this update a few weeks ago, but I do not use the mongoose. I have had no issues with blue Cruise! I used this:

I have purchased this in the meantime:

I don’t know if the work around is to use one of these for the fix but if it is, I would be willing to try to help anyone in the DFW area.
So what's the IPMA update time using the Master Tech II?

Same as a VCM II?

It has the same specs as the VCM 3 So I would assume it is as fast as that, however I had already done all my updates with my Autel so I have no idea😢
I’ve never really been hoping that I had to do more updates but of course now I am so I can see how fast it is😂🤣😂

Here are the specs of the Ford VCM 3 and the Bosch mastertech 2:

I think Bosch makes the Ford unit, but I am not positive.

Oof. I’ll keep an eye out too. I updated mine on Tuesday and everything is still working as far as I can tell.
I’m relieved to report my blue cruise worked perfectly on my commute this morning, only disengaging as expected near toll transponder readers. Definitely noticed a smoother experience with 1.4 and zero unnecessary nags (I did do a driver alertness calibration).

I don’t remember the order I applied updates but I’m happy to share my VIN with anyone that wants to use it as research.

Yeah we need to find out what you guys are doing right. You also used the mongoose?

I've used BlueCruise on a couple of short drives and a longer commute drive this morning, and so far it's still working (knock on wood!).

I used a mongoose as well.

PSA: I recommend to not update the IPMA until further notice. While only a very small percentage of trucks are being affected, the ones that do get affected will lose lane centering and bluecruise indefinitely. At first, we thought the issue was only affecting the hybrid F150's, but that we know of, at least one Lightning and now three ICE F150's are also affected. Today alone, two new cases popped up on the F150 forum. There is no fix.....the dealer can't help. I have no idea if the OTA version causes an issue or not as no cases have been reported on the forums by the few that have gotten 1.4 via OTA as of yet.
So reading the ICE forum it appears the brokeness may be due to seatbelts not being buckled? Maybe a new requirement Ford added to this module update?

If so, are we clear to update IPMA again? (I don’t have a cable but was considering borrowing one).

Lack of seat belt being the cause of all this anxiety is somewhat hilarious. 😆

I always wear mine so no wonder I have zero issues. To each their own but I had no idea not wearing a seat belt was so common.

It seems that way, yes. I was going to come in here and post about it after my drive to work to test lane centering again since last night I couldn't get the truck to initiate LC with or without the seatbelt on, but a few others have confirmed the new IPMA disengages lane centering with the seatbelt not connected. So it is safe to say the new IPMA software is fine as long as you're not a dumb ass like me and a few others who don't wear it. 😬

Sorry for the fear mongering guys. Happy updating.

My truck thinks I wear it. That's why I never noticed. The only time I wear it is when I get on the highway, which is maybe 2 times a month? 20k miles in 3 years/4 months since my daily commute to work is 2 miles each way.

So again: Apologies for the dumb assery.

You are much appreciated here! It was a valid issue and concern and we all appreciate the PSA. Who could know that Ford introduced a seat belt requirement! Remember the PCM update that got pulled - could easily have been one of those updates.
