2024 Ford 150 Lightning Flash
Hello,

We are new 2024 Flash owners. Today it is -5F. I drove about 20 miles, having set a departure time and charged to 80%. When we were leaving our destination an hour later, I started up the truck and got this message: Electrical system drain Service required. As I was starting to look it up to see whether it was safe to drive home, it went away. I got home, turned off the truck, turned it back on again and did not see the message. I'm wondering if this was just due to the cold weather? Or should I schedule service? If service is needed, how urgent is this? Can I keep driving it?

It usually points to a 12v battery problem. If it keeps happening then I'd bring it to the dealer.

Thanks. I’ve seen it two more times today. Think I should stop driving it until I can bring it in? Of course this starts on a Sunday… It’s so cold, I don’t want to be stranded.

Could you show the right side of the instrument panel while the truck is in the RUN / on mode ?

Curious if you see the small battery icon?

Note it's normal to see it while in accessory mode, but should not show in run mode.

Do you have accessories plugged in? How about the OBDII scanner?

I have gotten that message when Carscanner stayed connected to the car all night and started to drain the system down.

I didn’t have any accessories plugged in except for an iPhone charger that was not being used.

Could be because of the cold, do you have a plug at your house? You should keep it plugged in when cold.

Even if you don't have your phone plugged in, a car charger will consume electricity by itself.

Oh, good to know! Do you think leaving the charger plugged in all the time could be what caused the drain?

This is a good sign, hopefully the DC/DC inverter that's charging the 12v LVB is working fine.
