They expect to get $15.5k in lifetime software fees per customer.
They don't expect this (it's certainly a goal). And, it's not much different from Ford as BlueCruise is also a monthly fee.

$10K of that 15k is just Level 3 driving, same cost as Telsa has. The $5k would be "standard" connectively fee that most cars have, and they calculate that over 10 years. That's roughly a $40/month subscription service, which is pretty pricy. However, no one knows if that $40/month is actually too pricy or not as what's included really isn't known. Are you getting free charging in that, or highly reduced? Could be reasonable for some.

This battery truck is first gen product. It's battery will not provide the EPA range for most people. Like my current 5.0L it goes from 18mpg to 9mpg when towing. That isn't a great issue since it only takes 10minutes to get a tank of gas. It will take quite a while to power from some low number battery charge to 80%. No EV maker offers some quote to 100% and we get back to EPA range.

Personally I am going XLT or Lariat because the Lightning will not only be my daily driver and truck to do truck things in, but also our family road trip vehicle, so I want the ER battery and some creature comforts.
The same things had me actually considering Platinum. In general it will be a work truck and used primarily for such, but I'd be doing some long road trips in it, and some long trips with tools to/from rental properties. The Max Recline seats were what talked me into the Platinum and resting while charging on road trips, and it wouldn't hurt to look up at the stars through the moonroof. Downsides are of course cost and the big wheels that are bad off-road and hurt mileage, (and ugly) and having things I don't need like the sound system. The Platinum price is insane, of course, but business depreciation helps with that a bit. It's looking like the loss of tax credits might rule out the Platinum for me unless the seats are offered on another trim, so I might go with the cheapest ER trim available for that reason.

For me the ev credit makes the jump to xlt er possible. I drive 140 miles round trip a day with a once a week 220 mile round trip I worry come winter the SR will be pushing the range a bit. I had planned on a fully loaded xlt but spent more on the wife’s car than planned…
Can you not switch vehicles with the wife on the extend range day? I’m certain she wouldn’t mind.?

I might! Our xlt was hers lol now she has a fully loaded Honda Pilot (needed the extra seats for hauling daycare kids) but her main thing is she don’t want me getting her car dirty lol.

planning to just use the F150L for around town and then for adventure trips. If I was going to commute then I would want something more like the Niro EV that I have now.
Somewhat OT, but I see someone else here noticed that the Niro EV was a great price/range/cargo space/still gets the full federal EV credit compromise. Last year I told myself that if my C-Max Energi got totaled for some reason, that would be my next car. Then the F150L came out . . .

Maverick has nowhere near the capacity that the Rivian vehicles have. The ranger however is closer but still nowhere near as boutique. Fully electric Tacoma and 4 runner maybe. Now once land Rover has an electric defender in the same price range there may be some worries for Rivian.

Considering Ford invested well over half a billion dollars into Rivian, I'd say they have a vested interest in seeing Rivian succeed.

I'm gonna push back a bit on this. Ford has been extremely cautious in the past with the Mach E. They purposely downgraded the EPA estimate and multiple users are getting the EPA estimates or exceeding.

It appears that Ford has been even more cautious with the Lightning-- Ford has been quoted as saying the 230/300mi was calculated with 1000lb payload. I think with the Ford products most people do get EPA range.

AS always YMMV, but its more realistic with Ford EV products by design
