I talked to many departments this morning. Half of the people did not know about the limit to 48 amp for my model. Worse, even though I reached out to them within the 30 days window of purchase with my “problem” they say I cannot return the charger either.
Ford EV training is really lacking. Have to take anything they say with a grain of salt as there's a 99% chance the customer knows more. Heck the salesman at the first dealer I went to didn't even know the truck had a frunk. I opened it to look and he was amazed.

Last step I would take is to blast them (Ford and the dealer) on Google reviews/twitter/other social media. Let the general manager know you are giving them bad reviews and will only change them if they figure out how to "make things right".

I agree with this but I think it should be the first thing you do; in this modern day of social media and the internet, this gives you ALOT more power than you think. Most sales enviroments train their sales associates and managers to do the bare minimum and gives a textbook of standard answers to deflect the blame back to the customer. My favorite is the non-apology apology: "I'm sorry that you feel that way..."

Take any email screenshots, chat shots, voice recordings, etc and post them on every social media platform and tag every Ford handle you can find. You'll be shocked to see how quickly companies will reach out to you to 'make things right' when they've been blasted on social media and gains any traction.

Find someone else to help you. You were taken advantage of. It was probably incompetence but it's absolutely unacceptable.

Exactly! Even if it wasn’t malicious, they should make it right.

If you bought the charger on a CC, hit them with a charge back.

This is one of the things that I hate about the EV home charging market. My truck charges fine overnight at 32A, and in reality it has always reached the desired state of charge overnight on my old 20A charger. You don’t need an 80A charger unless you have very specific needs, such as a business. They definitely should not have sold It to you and not for that price - if it came from Ford then they must have known that 2024 models don’t support 80A (and only a few of the 2023 models did.)

Your new 100A subpanel that you probably have should be useful some time in the future, however.

Maybe you don't need an 80A charger the way you use your truck. If I were stuck with 48A home charging I'd be DC charging twice for most trips in the winter instead of once - no thanks. Ford did nobody any favors by removing 80A charging capability from the ER trucks.
