German engineers do things with purpose.
When I was an undergrad, I almost got a job with Siemens - it was driving around to various hospitals and doctor offices calibrating x-ray machines, paid pretty well and included a Mercedes I could use when off the clock...the deal breaker was the dosimeter badge I would have to wear...I was thinking I might want to have 'normal' kids someday.

Have dealt with too many German equipment manufacturers, I can sum up their approach as ... "Ve are German, and ve know the RIGHT way to do things!"

This reminded me of my time in the Air Force. I flew on the Compass Call, airborne jamming platform. I recall being told that if I flew long enough, I would only be able to have boys due to the EM radiation leakage from the jammers. We never wore devices to know exactly how much we were exposed to. I guess I didn't fly long enough as a few years after I had a girl. :D

Aluminum pants not standard issue?

One of my prof's had been in the AF and he told the story of how soldiers on guard duty in Alaska would stand in front of the radar antennae because it kept them warm! Microwaves!

The early microwave ovens used to leak radiation around the doors which is why I didn't have one for many years.

One last fun fact about RCA color TV's in the early days: their flyback transformers emitted radiation in the up and down directions, so if you lived in an apartment, your upstairs and downstairs neighbors were getting zapped with x-rays!

Besides ionizing radiation from flyback transformers, strong magnetic fields can also be a hazard, like around commercial movie projectors.

Eventually chromosomal mutations take hold and bad things can happen.

That's why we have OSHA and other agencies to protect us...well, I guess I should say, used to have.

I received this .125 update on mine as well. I will test with HIS later this week.

My father was USN radioman someone found it funny to energize a radar beacon while he was on a mast working on HF antenna, early / mid 60's

The navy dropped him like a hot potato in 1971, he died of leukemia 1973 in his mid 30's

Sorry to hear that, definitely a lot of leukemia in that occupation, mutations in the bone marrow caused by the radiation lead to cancerous blood cells.

My wife is being treated for a kind of leukemia right now, but thankfully it is a very treatable and curable kind, called APL:

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a rare, but curable, subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) characterized by the overproduction of immature white blood cells called promyelocytes, often leading to bleeding and clotting problems.

It has a 90%+ cure rate if one gets through the first month and responds to the treatment, which involves infusions of an arsenic compound (Arsenic TriOxide) and a form of modified Vit A (ATRA) in pill form.

So far so good, one more month of treatment, then a biopsy to see if it's all gone and then a year of monitoring in case it comes back.

BTW, that treatment comes from Chinese medicine which was at first looked at with skepticism by US doctors, but since APL was incurable, they decided to try it, and now it is the accepted treatment. That is according to the senior doctor at the cancer practice treating my wife anyway. So stuff from China isn't all bad.

It is a very rare type of leukemia and the mutation in the bone marrow apparently arises spontaneously for unknown reasons, sometimes young people get it, sometime us old folks.

A nutritional deficiency in Vits B12 and B9 (folate) can lead to bone a marrow mutation that causes another blood disease called megalobastic anemia where mutant red blood cells are formed. So perhaps my wife had a nutritional issue caused by the medicines she was taking for reflux, PPI's (Proton Pump Inhibitors), that are known to result in B vitamin deficiencies if taken for more than 28 days, which is a common thing.

If my FCSP can cure itself suddenly and silently with a SW update, anything is possible!

Out of the frying pan and into the fire here...

The TLDR lesson is after a cold reboot of your FCSP in looking for a firmware update, wait a GOOD while after the FCSP is up and running again before doing anything with the device. Based on my experience, I'd say wait at least half an hour before trying backup power transfer with a HIS unit.

Bottom line: After many failed backup power transfers (BPTs) after the FCSP software update, it works after a 2nd cold reboot, picking charger type, and setting up Wi-Fi again via the Charge Station Pro setup program (and then letting the system sit overnight).

Trial and Error Diary: For the longest time, I've had a bastardized firmware version number for the long-standing FCSP software version:

Ford F-150 Lightning FCSP Software Version 2.112.125:3.15:3.15:3.15:3.15 IMG_1098 1

So tonight, I decided to do a cold reboot of my FCSP, with all power to the device off for > 20 minutes (including the Dark Start battery of my HIS unit). After my FCSP was rebooted and I could connect to it both through FordPass and through the Ford Charge Station Pro setup app, this is what I saw for the software version via the CSP setup app:

Ford F-150 Lightning FCSP Software Version 2.112.125:3.15:3.15:3.15:3.15 IMG_1248

I wrongly figured that since I could connect to the FCSP both through FP and the CSP apps that it was OK to go ahead and try a Home Integration System backup power transfer.

Even with the UNLOCK button trick, the truck LED ring would turn green and start flashing, but after some seconds, the port LEDs would turn white and go out. I also got a charger fault. (And I had done a successful backup power test transfer just before doing the FCSP cold reboot).

In subsequent attempts, even with automatic and manual start of the IBP program transfer via the truck SYNC screen, the truck would say it was transferring power, show the SYNC screen animation, but no lights in the house came on!

After about half an hour, I went back to the CSP app, and the software version now read the hoped-for new version:

Ford F-150 Lightning FCSP Software Version 2.112.125:3.15:3.15:3.15:3.15 IMG_1249

I did another cold reboot of the FCSP and connected the FCSP to FordPass through the CSP app. On the 2nd cold reboot, the CSP app actually asked me to pick which Ford charger type I was using and what Wi-Fi network and password to use, whereas, during the initial cold reboot, the FCSP just seemed to reconnect to my LAN using the old memorized Wi-Fi settings,

So, I'll let the FCSP just sit overnight and hope for better luck the next time I try a backup power transfer. Otherwise, perhaps it's Factory Reset time for my FCSP, perhaps because I might have tried the backup power transfer while the firmware was still updating itself.

I was also wondering if a truck module update is required to go along with the FCSP firmware update so the truck/FCSP power transfer works correctly.

Edit_Update: After the second cold reboot and setting up the FCSP fully with the CSP setup app, then letting the system sit overnight, backup power transfer works, but not automatically. It only came on after two sequential truck port UNLOCK button pushes with charger head removal and reinsertion. So, the new FCSP software version is not the cure for getting automatic BPTs out of a HIS unit (at least for me).
