while I like others clicked to accept, because otherwise you can't use the app, it is worth remembering that these broad contracts of adhesion are what enabled Disney to try to use the acceptance of ostensibly unrelated Disney+ terms and conditions to try to wriggle out of a wrongful death lawsuit relating to one of its parks, and Uber to try to use the fact that someone had once clicked accept on Uber Eats T&Cs to get the courts to block a lawsuit for a different family member hurt in a crash when they were an Uber passenger. Just when you think some of these companies couldn't get any scummier, I can assure you that they can, and it's all baked right there in take it or leave it T&Cs like these.

Just tried to open my Ford pass and I can't unless I Accept the new terms. If I don't accept, I can't open my Ford pass.
Has anyone read all the pages and see what rights we are giving up by signing off on this.
This is just the first screen shot. It's 23 different sections of multiple pages of legal Mumbo Jumbo

You have no rights. This has come up before. How we continue to let companies get away with the miles of legal jargon. There is the alternative, we don't have to use it, but just because we do it's insane what we give up. Yes - I worry about TikTok, but simply because it is a foreign entity. Our US companies are just as bad, the take down will just happen from within our own borders.

I've driven to moon and back in my 47 years of driving and never had an app to deal with. I didn't accept the terms and conditions, removed the fuse for the TCU and turned off WiFi, screw Ford and their data collection.

Sometime today, probably when my app got the new T&Cs (which I accepted without reading all the way through), my Fordpass app lost connection with the truck. Still thinks it's parked up north with 72% SOC, but instead it's home at 80%. Remote lock etc just spins indefinitely.

Is there a reset procedure? Just uninstall and reinstall?

Did you read all the terms / conditions and accept them ?
I just called Ford Pass cs and the rep canā€™t advise anything. Best he told me is the app works better on Apple I phones and if you speak Vietnamese. Neither applies to me. Pretty sure 23 sections talks about more than apples and foreign languages.
Maybe you can interpret what weā€™re agreeing on the new terms.
Did we just agree that we might not ever get BC 1.4 ?
Donā€™t know, not a lawyer who can read between the lines.
In the mean time I canā€™t do anything remote.
Rick
My question is whether they are/can share info with insurance companies. GM was doing this last year (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/...ytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare) and I would be pretty angry if that were the case. Iā€™m planning to hold on accepting the terms until I get an answer on that.

I doubt this is in there. Go check your car screens it says they donā€™t share that info. We had pitchforks for this issue when it was brought up last time and all the people that requested their full driving history proved it was for nothing.

No big deal. You give up your first borne, they get full rights with your wife (ala Braveheart), and can take back the truck at any time. Just click Accept and move on.
Or hire a lawyer to decipher it for you.

BORN

Surprising slip from someone who yells at others misspellings
He was obviously referring to your first Borne, Jason Borne. Jeez... give him shit for not capitalizing instead of his intent! šŸ˜€

For anyone else who finds this:

Is there a way to opt out?

Yes, the document mentions several ways to opt-out or limit certain features and data collection:

* Stopping Use of FordPass: The most direct way to opt-out is to stop using FordPass. If you object to changes in the Terms or the platform, your sole recourse is to stop using it (Section 1a).

* Uninstalling the App: You can uninstall the FordPass app from your mobile device using the application management tools provided with your device (Section 1b).

* Canceling your account. You can do that using the "Delete Account" feature on the app, or by emailing customer support. (Section 1b).

* Opting out of My Vehicle Feature Communications: If you register your vehicle with the "Vehicle Details" feature, you can opt-out of receiving notifications and communications related to that feature by contacting Ford Guides or changing your preferences in the FordPass settings menu (Section 6).

* Disabling Data Sharing (for connected vehicles): If your vehicle has connectivity technology and is connected to FordPass, deleting the app won't stop data sharing. You'll need to consult your vehicle's Owner's Manual or contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center. There may be in-vehicle controls (like a Master Reset) to stop data transmission (Section 1b).

* Removing the vehicle from the Garage. If you have forgotten to perform a Master Reset, you may remove the vehicle from the Garage in the app to cancel remote access. (Section 1b).

* Withdrawing consent for Google Maps Services & API's. You can withdraw at any time from your Privacy Settings, located under the "Account" tab. (Section 2).

* FordPass Rewards. To cancel membership, you may use the Help Feature or contact the FordPass Rewards Center. (Section 8j).

It's important to note the differences between uninstalling the app (which just removes it from your device), canceling your account (deleting access), and stopping data sharing from a connected vehicle (which may require in-vehicle actions).

Data Collection:

FordPass collects several types of data, broadly categorized as:

* Information You Provide:
* Account Creation/Profile Information: Name, email address, photo, street address, telephone number, and vehicle service records.
* Payment Information (for FordPass Wallet/Payments): Credit card, debit card, or bank account information (if using ACH payments).
* Forward-to-a-Friend: If you use this feature, the email address you provide is used solely for that purpose.
* Connected Vehicle Information (if your vehicle is connected and equipped):
* Vehicle Location: Precise and non-precise location/GPS data, including current location, travel direction, speed, charging locations (for electric vehicles), and environmental information (weather, road conditions, traffic signs, etc.).
* Driving Data: Information on how the vehicle is operated, such as speed, use of accelerator/brakes/steering, seatbelt use, driver assist technology usage, airbag deployment, and collision signals.
* Vehicle Data: Information about the vehicle's status and performance, including VIN, hardware/part numbers, odometer, tire pressure, fuel/fluid levels, battery/lock status, trouble codes, warning indicators, and diagnostics.
* Audio/Visual Data: Images from forward, interior and rear-facing cameras, and voice commands when the voice recognition system is active.
* Mobile Device Information:
* Mobile Device Location: Precise location data (GPS and IP address-derived) when location services are enabled on your device (even if the app is in the background). Approximate location can also be derived from Wi-Fi access points, cell towers, and IP address, even if location services are off.
* Computer or Mobile Device Information: Software/OS version, unique device identifiers, IP address, and mobile network information.
* Usage Information:
* FordPass Usage Data: How you use FordPass, including when and for how long you use features, and records of your communications with Ford.
* Technology-Collected Data: Information about FordPass performance (e.g., crashes) and usage, collected through cookies, pixels/web beacons, log data, and third-party analytics tools.
* Google Maps Services & Google APIs:
* Precise location
* Identifiers
* Technical device information.
* Maps performance and interaction events data.
* Your search queries.
It's very important to note the connection between Connected Vehicle Information and your VIN, and how that can be linked to you. Ford does state they may collect and use de-identified data.
