Hello all,
I have a 24 flash that is fully up to date withe FDRS and the latest iOS fordpass app. Within the last month or so I have noticed a weird preconditioning bug that causes the truck to randomly start the conditioning 2 hours before the set time, then it sends an early notification that’s it’s done in app, waits 2 hours and finally preconditions at the set time with no notification in app.
But it does not do this every day or on a predictable schedule. See attached photo

I have tried:
factory resetting sync settings in truck
full factory reset in truck
deleting FP app and re-downloading
only using FP on one device (no ipad etc phone only)
12v reset & sync reset
setting precondition times only in truck
setting precondition times only in app
changing the time zone for “precondition off plug” as I thought maybe it was a timezone issue

I thought I had it with the last one but this morning it did it again. Just wondering if I found a new app/truck software bug or I’m missing something.
thanks for any help!

Bug and Ford SW are synonymous.

How cold was it around 5:50 am?

Assuming that is the point of concern, it doesn't look to be very long of an episode, but it may have been the EVSE cycling to touch up the SOC from the earlier 9PM bulk charging event.

As we get into the cold season, you should see the departure time trigger a vehicle preparation phase upwards of 30 to 60 minutes prior to departure time, this is when the battery is being warmed up, later in the process the cabin warming phase should kick in five minutes prior to programmed departure time and will continue to run 5-10 minutes afterward (depending on the default duration of your remote start preferences 5, 10, 15 minutes)

I'd say all looks normal.

It was in a heated/insulated garage which is usually 65 degrees, so I don’t think this was it. Also because the notification In the app is popping up early 6:15am in this case 2 hr before 8:15 set departure.
it’s also weird that it doesn’t get another notification at the correct time it ends even though it does it correctly.
that’s why I thought it was time zone related after the last reset.
I am also comparing this to the behavior of mache in the year of ownership, it never triggered the app early with a notification while it was keeping the battery warm when we got below negative temps.

Haha true maybe the truck was getting ready for daylight savings a month or two early.
last time I did a reset I noticed it was defaulting to Detroit so I picked NY which shouldn’t make a difference as they are same zone but I thought it was fixed until this morning.
It’s just weird it’s always a -2 hour offset no matter what time I pick

Given these additional facts, I have no idea other than indigestion on the ford servers, ie delayed messages by 22 hours of the prior day?

I have noticed that my Fordpass is sluggish loading the avatar of my truck on the vehicle page today.

Ty I was thinking it was app related since there haven’t been many updates I applied to this truck yet and it’s been fully up to date and working fine with the schedule I had until the last month or so.
I will wait for time change tomorrow and maybe try another master reset with another app re-install. Maybe some stuff is leftover from a previous app version.

If you choose the app reinstall, first clear the cache and user data, uninstall, reinstall and commence with setting up PAAK (if that is an option on the Flash trim).

Is there a manual way to clear cache and user data on iOS? I thought that was an android thing but it’s been a few versions since I’ve used it.
No PAAK in flash from but that makes the reset process a tad easier as it just has to reactivate with the servers and no key setup.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with iOS technical details.

I rebooted my Android phone, this seems to have improved performance of tab loading.

There is no need to precondition.

I only start scheduling it for the colder mornings over the past months. Plus once winter does get here it will help keep pack temps up during the day when the truck is out and sitting at work. So, it’s still a good idea in my opinion even if garaged at 65f.

Preconditioning your battery to sit in a parking lot while at work is a waste. Cold weather doesn't hurt your battery and there is no insulation value to the battery shell. It's starting to cool off the moment you start driving.

If you don't need the majority of a battery charge to get to your destination, or a charger, you're wasting electricity.

But that's your choice, and I digress.

Anyway, FordPass doesn't control your preconditioning. Deleting it and reinstalling, especially if you use PAAK, is time-consuming and will not help.
