It looks like if you’re not an EV and parking there then you have the 30 minute limit, but if you are charging, then it doesn’t matter, but most of us should be done within 30 minutes on a supercharger.
Was there limited parking in that area?

It is rare, but there are a few Tesla chargers inside paid parking garages or lots. You pay if you want in to them. They are rare, but I guess Tesla did what they had to years ago to get them installed.

It is part of the zoning regulations of what ever municipality this is located in. Each parking lot in a commercial center has been designed to accommodate what types of businesses are there and how many parking spaces are required. When Tesla comes in, there may or may not be extra parking spaces. If there are not, then you have the scenario shown in the photo.

I saw the same Tesla sign (30 min general parking) when I charged yesterday at the Forks, WA Tesla station. Now I know it's not an anomaly. I sure hope it's not the beginning of a trend.

Yup, the initial burst with the new charging programming (OTA last year sometime?) consistently goes into the 180's for the first 5-10 minutes. I have only seen it with Tesla DCFC, never that high with EA.

Ya, the shopping center near my home Just put in 10 to 12 new Chargers, of the 10 to 12 new spots, only 2 I believe are dedicated charger spots, the rest are also for general parking...

There are cities in CA developing ordinances that prohibit parking in the charging stalls including EVs. It allows for charging the EV but not just parking. The ordinance will allow the police or enforcing authority to cite and or tow the vehicle. This includes private property like shopping centers and the like!
