Front license plate blocking active shutters ? Anyone concerned in states that require front plates? Holes in bumper OK?

We’re required to have them but I didn’t install ours on the ID.4 and I never see a Tesla with one. Someday I’m sure we’ll get a ticket and I’ll finally see what it costs to be cavalier about this stupid law.

Missouri is kind of strange - big farm trucks only require a front plate - no rear!

Do you mind sharing what specific smoked license plate covers you bought? I want to pick some up.

Sure, they aren't anything extravagant. I actually bought them a while ago to put on my 2020 Black Pacifica PHEV S model but they didn't fit on the tailgate because there is almost no clearance between the reverse lights and the license plate holder area. They fit just fine on the Lightning.

Ugh, that sucks for you guys out there. I've never had a problem here in NY and I see them all over on other vehicles. I'll go around rather than through Illinois in my Lightning or Mach E GTPE if I am ever heading that way then.

Add Virginia to that list. I think the license plate reader cars also flag no front plate with a Virginia plate on the rear when it can catch both ends of the car.

I'm surprised. I got pulled over on the Northway by a trooper(in a speed trap) LOOKING for out of date safety inspection stickers. I was going exactly 2 over. Talk about eagle eyes..

(No ticket..my car was exempted because it was NEW with a valid Virginia safety inspection from dealer)

You can put PPF under the area of a vinyl adhesive clone of your plate, then you have nothing to worry about.

Seems these are illegal on NY now because police see as attempt to defeat auto toll readers. Amazon has a note they will not ship to my address in NY so something is up.

Wow! It’s funny because I took them off almost as soon as I put them on. They are larger and curved and don’t work that well when using a license plate. I bought new carbon fiber plate frames and when they came in I had to leave the smoked covers off because they wouldn’t fit in the frames.
