I made my own! Took a hard plastic lid from a glass jar from the recycle bin and grabbed my hot glue gun and stuck it on over the emergency release button... I know it's not pretty but I was going on a trip and loading the frunk and didn't want to have to worry about the Button getting hit.. Worked great!

are you serious??! you really did that to your truck? I mean permanent damage vs a $3 printed part? And Iffff a child gets trapped in there they likely aren't getting out

It's hot glue hardly sticks to the plastic, one little pull the lid comes right off. I actually had to glue it a second time the glue didn't even stick to the plastic. When you're in a pinch and leaving on a trip you want something quick I had to do a MacGyver and it worked.. It's temporary, I'll replace it with the foam spec piece that they have..

Cover part number:
RL3Z26220A54CA

$45 CAD

I think I'll deal with it as is and maybe find one cheaper down the road.

its extremely cheaply 3D printed, our local library printed it for us $3. I prefer the thing verse design over the OEM which doesn't cover the button

Yes, it's cheap, most 3d printed stuff is.
The oem one meets the safety spec though. I don't need either right now but some people might like to keep the stock look, it's also luminescent.

The part number is for anyone who wants to reference it.

the 3 D ones are glow in the dark as well. The purpose of it is to keep the button from being pushed the OEM does not cover the button and. you could still push it with something in your frunk, no doubt for liability reasons. Definitely your choice. I love ours, I prefer spending less and I really love the button cover aesthetically but also it keeps the button from being pushed.
Interesting thought Ford no doubt designed their button cover such that the button could still be pushed but by doing that are they not liable for it opening while driving and causing an accident ...just a thought if liability drives their thinking and design.

I’m glad this was posted and it’s good to know it won’t open all the way while driving. I was inspired to design my own and print them out glow in the dark filament that’s just about the same color as the oem base.
The one on the left as a breakaway cover.
the center one has a pop off cover that can be replaced.
The right one is open in the center but something smaller than the opening would have to go in the opening just right.

it snaps in place but with the current iteration, I’d put a dab of flexible glue to hold it in place but keep it removable.

I know, I'm a walking stereotype, I like to keep my clubs in the Frunk so I can practice after work. Well, on my drive home today, I took a turn on the highway and the lateral forces caused the clubs to shift just enough they the base of my bag hit the emergency release button.

Good news, it doesn't open immediately, it unlatched and sounded a constant alarm. Once I shifted into park, it opened. I rolled my bag a bit more on its side and shut it. No issues after.

I kinda wish the emergency button was under a flip cover, like a red guarded switch on a plane. Because as is, it's not hard to push with stuff in the frunk. For illustration, my clubs were oriented sideways with the bottom of the bag on the switch/outlet side and the clubs heads towards driver side.

Wanted to out this out as a precautionary note to consider when packing stuff in.
I had the same thing happen to me. I put a pad at the base of my clubs that prevent it from depressing the button.

Maybe just use a couple of flexable straps to keep from moving around, I would not like my clubs slinging around all the time I was driving anyway.

My clubs are long enough that the base of the bag is pretty much against the emergency release button to have room for my driver to fit on the far side. I play standard length so they're not extra long. They don't really slide so much as apply pressure in turns.

Since I added the 3D printed part and glued it down, I haven't had an issue.
