States are a lot closer together in New England. On the initial charge on an ER battery I can get to six different states, and I live on Cape Cod that is on the eastern edge of MA. The farthest I go routinely is ~240 miles to St Johnsbury, VT.

I used to live in AZ, I don’t think I would’ve chosen an EV if I were still living there because of the distances involved and frequency of trips beyond the initial battery range. I used to drive diesel vehicles (VW TDI and Cummins) that could go 600+ miles per tank. I was able to make a round trip from Flagstaff to Tucson and back without filling up. The common 488 mile trip from Flagstaff to San Diego would be rough in my Lightning.

All depends on the stations speed. If you can do a 20-80% charge in 30 minutes, that’s reasonable. Now with Tesla station access there should be more choices at high speed.

EV doesn’t work well everywhere. For example, where it’s really cold. This cold snap has really decreased my range. If I was like this 6+ months of the year I would have to rethink.

Oh wow, I used to drive my 2002 Beetle TDI across the country. Loved that car, I sold it after California started testing diesels.

Which Nazis?

The Nazi accusation has been used to vilify anyone one side disagrees with from George W Bush to present. It’s become a toothless accusation lobbied by those lacking the intellect to defend their beliefs in a legitimate debate.

We either have a first amendment or we don’t:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I applaud Elon Musk’s stance on twitter being a free speech platform for ALL speech. I have no tolerance for bigotry or racism regardless of the source. Unfortunately the way things have gone the judgement of what’s racist depends on the ethnicity of the person saying it. Stuff like this is pushed by one side.

I enjoyed Adam Corolla’s recent commentary about his white privilege.

ADAM CAROLLA: I want to talk about my white privilege so badly. I graduated North Hollywood High with a 1.7 GPA. I could not find a job.

I walked to a fire station in North Hollywood. I was 19. I was living in the garage of my family home.

My mom was on welfare and food stamps and I said, can I get a job as a fireman? And they said, no, because you're not black, Hispanic, or a woman. We'll see in about seven years.

And I went to a construction site and dug ditches and picked up garbage for the next seven years. I got a letter in the mail sent to my father's house saying, your time has come to do the written exam for the LA Fire Department. I took it and I was standing in line and I had a young woman of color standing behind me in line and I said, just out of curiosity, when did you sign up to become a fireman? Because I did it as a person seven years ago. And she said, Wednesday. That is an example of my white privilege.

So Adam Corolla is one white guy who struggled. I had a similar experience growing up. I made it out of poverty too. But take a look at the number of people of color who go through that and never make it past the barriers. And women are still not considered equal to me when it comes to salary. Too many people don’t want to accept there is inherent discrimination in all societies. And when a remedy is tried people cry foul.

But here is the thing, you don't know why those people were passed up. I am a black American I can tell you I have never been hire by another black person not that I've interviewed with one but my point is for every job I worked I was hired by white men with the exception of 2 other times. I'm 56 and retired now and I"ll just say this. Knowing people who are like me, I think it more of a cultural thing rather than someone just not hiring because of skin color. I've come across so many that are willing to place blame on white people for things that have nothing to do with just straight out racism and that includes some in my own family and it disgusts me when I hear it. Its more like their misinterpretations of the situations because of years of confirmation bias, ie. "The Talk' as black people like to put it. And that's not to say racism doesn't exist, but I think it far less than what some would like us all to believe. Sorry for my soap box. lol
