I have a dual pole 100 amp breaker that has a 2-2-2-3 service cable that runs to a subpanel in my garage. Will I be able to just add another breaker on the service panel or will I have to run another service cable from my main box to the garage again. I have 600 amps coming into the home, three 200 amp lines all on their separate boxes. I don't understand electricity at all so I am uncertain what my needs will be. I was able to order in wave 6 and am just trying to plan.

You could get the adapter and use your Tesla charger on the F150 :)

You well not have to run another line. But you well need breakers in the sub panel.

600amps? What are you running, a Bitcoin operation? WOW!

If you want to use your Tesla charger, you can buy the noted adapter.

If you want to charge the Lightning separately, you can add another breaker in the subpanel in the garage. BUT - the Lightning can charge at 80amps, which requires a 100 amp circuit. So, if you want to use the Ford Charge Station Pro and charge at 80amps, you cannot do that with the Tesla on it's circuit also. Running both at the same time will exceed the capacity of your subpanel. Of course you can charge the Lightning at a lower rate, ensuring that the combination of both chargers doesn't exceed 80amps total.

The house is 10 years old and I planned ahead.... I had a circuit just for electric vehicles put in at that time, but we thought it would max out at 60 so I had to have another circuit run for 100 amps. I hate to have to slow down charging, but I think that is what I will have to do. I was kind of hoping that the 2 chargers would hopefully talk to themselves and be able to figure it out. But I don't think that is a possibility.

The other issue I think I might have is with the home integration. Since I have 3 seperate 200 amp breaker boxes will I be able to have the HIS connect to all 3? or will I have to chose one? I was hoping to use all 3 and then manually turn off the breakers I don't want to use. Basically just run power to the fridge, ice box, stove, tv, and maybe one heat pump. But they are on different break boxes.

You can get two chargers to talk to each other, they just have to have the capability. For example, two of the same model of JuiceBox chargers can get put on the same circuit and talk to each other. They'll either give each 1/2 of the available power, or one will get full and the other none, if it's completed charging. That's one reason I installed a JuiceBox 48.

Not an electrician, but I believe that you're only going to be able to feed power back to the box that the garage feed is on, but I'll leave that to others.

I have a Tesla charger. Unlike you (I think), I don't have any more room in my circuit box to add another line. Rather than upgrading my electricity, I'm going the daisy chained route with two Tesla Wall Connectors. You can share two chargers on one circuit and they will intelligently load share based on vehicle need (i.e. - Tesla is fully charged and Lightning isn't, both are plugged in, Lightning will get more juice). This doubles charge time if both cars are needing their batteries topped up, but even at half charging speed I don't see a time where I won't get fully charged in a day.

You would need two things if you went this route. (1) A second Tesla charger of the same gen (mine are both 3rd gen, please check if you have an older model if this works!) and (2) a 60 AMP Tesla Tap converter so the plug can fit your Lightning.

Grizzl E has an EVSE with two plugs that share one supply. I have not used the product, but on the Volvo EV forum that I follow there are many who use grizzl E products (ul listed, made in Canada).

Since you already have a Tesla HPWC you could just buy a second one, assuming it's not a gen 1 HPWC. Those can be daisy chained on the same circuit since they communicate with each other.

I'm not sure how the HIS works or what it can theoretically deliver back to the house. That will be key. Installing at the "top level" panel will give you most flexibility, though if you really have a lot of power you may need to ration it to stay below the inverter's max output.

does anyone know if the ford chargers talk to themselves? If so maybe we could get people that have a tesla and lightning and start swapping. That is under the assumption that you can use an adapter on the ford to power a lightning.

They may very well talk to themselves, but they don’t talk to each other. 😄

I don't think there is any inter-device communication or they would have advertised this. There are also some 3rd party EVSEs that can be installed in series, but since you already have a Tesla HPWC I would just expand what you have.
