So a YouTube short popped up in my Android notifications from Ford Techmakuloco.

He has a Lightning and was charging L2 and describes a burning smell and immediately unplugged it. Then uses FDRS to discover an ABS module that doesn't respond.

I don't remember seeing anything like this reported.
Since he immediately posted a short, we don't know more and I don't think you can embed a short in a post?

But here's his channel and it's the first short you will see. 4000 views within a few minutes.

Funny enough this also pushed to my phone. Anything that shorts or fails may produce an electrical burning smell, after all, everything is electric. He has around 3,000 miles on it so I suspect infant mortality on his ABS module. It sucks and is very unfortunate. But thats what the warranty is for.

After 5 months of ownership, I surpassed 12,000 miles today. I just got back from AVF in Helen and Tail of the Dragon. Absolutely put a smile on my face taking it through all those roads. Lots of heads turning too. I absolutely love this beast!

I honestly don't know if the L2 charging issue is related to the ABS module being unresponsive in FDRS.

I don't fault him for the decisions he made or reporting what he experienced on his channel. But he might have jumped the gun on his diagnosis, which is the opposite of what I expect from him.

That short, considering his audience, was throwing meat to the gasoline until I die crowd. 🤣🤣🤣

I like Brian for his generosity and skills. But he can be as short fused a consumer as the anyone else.

I loved that road, when I went in 2018 on a ZX14r, they're just now finishing a repaving project on the dragon.

I have seen abs module fail like this in ice vehicles, don't panic.

Im not. Its a total desert there. I specifically search for airbnb’s with a L2 charger and charge nightly to 100% for it. Plenty of range to put around the tail and the other areas. Northern GA has some L3 chargers but its limited to 65 KW.

I have over 42,000 miles on my 2023 (took delivery in Jan 2023) and the only qwirky issue I have ever had was with the Fordpass connectivity and traffic feeds to the nav system not always working…after several months of working with engineering they replaced the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) and I have had no issues with it since then.
