Using the FordPass app I located some in network Tesla chargers not too far from home so I figured I’d give it a try. The first odd thing was that although the FordPass app showed the charging site the navigation app in the truck did not. No matter what filter setting I put on it and even with a manual search, it would not show this charger site. So I drove there anyhow and plugged in and it worked swimmingly. However, the max rate I saw was 62 kWh on a 250 charger. I was at 72% SOC when I started. What gives?

Even at 72% that's pretty low. Not sure why you saw that.

Ford's navigation app doesn't yet have the Superchargers listed.

The nav app doesn't show it from what I understand - or at least mine hasn't. The charge assist app in the truck does and is what's needed to get them to show up.

Yep Ford Nav doesn’t show Tesla chargers yet so you can’t use them as a destination and get preconditioning. hopefully Ford will get this updated soon.

The name of the app was changed to Public Charging a while back. A few people have reported not getting it. A bit of a mystery.

They will be added "soon", which means that it won't be useful until next winter...

Preconditioning on both my Mach-E and Lightning has been non-functional for months anyway...

I'll be "that guy" today... 😉

The max rate was 62 kW.

62 kWh would be the total energy one would receive if that rate were sustained for one hour.

But yes, it is low. How busy was the whole site? Just because a charger can deliver up to 250, doesn't mean it will. Even if your vehicle tells it that it can receive up to 150 doesn't mean it will either. If the whole site can only deliver 400 and there are six vechles plugged in asking for a charge, they will each get a piece of that, and not necessarily an equal piece.

Sounds like an anomaly. Wouldn’t worry about it.

I was the only vehicle on an eight charger bank:)

That makes it all the worse.

Though, there could have been a substantial draw on the site's batteries a while before you arrived by others, and time of day limit could also be a factor.

Using my 400 kW total for the site example, only a fraction of that would be drawn from the grid when used, and the grid draw may be limited at times to draw less when time of use charges higher. The rest comes from stored energy. If that is low, the power would likely be throttled down.

Best guess is that there was an issue with the cable cooling - if the unit has faulty cable cooling then you will be rate limited to around this speed.

If you encounter this again then try another unit.
