These are inhibit updates. The popup likely said it would install at your scheduled update time and given the option to Install Now or Reschedule.

Were you driving at your scheduled update time (default is 1 in the morning)? Then it might have given that message.

However inhibit updates will not install unless the truck is off. So it would not have disabled you at a red light. There is also a countdown, two minutes I think.
I was not happy that while I was out driving, an update wanted to install, but of course it is just a computer program setting that doesn't check to see if I am at home, on the road at a light, or whatever.

However, it did give me the option to reschedule which I did just before the light changed to green. I was headed to a quick shopping stop and did not want to have to wait for an update to install at that stop.

It was distracting to have that pop up while I was out driving, stopped at a light, and I had to look away from the road, read a message, and select reschedule. I supposed if I had ignored it, it would not have disappeared and I could have selected reschedule when I got to my destination.

Yes, I think it may have been at the time I had scheduled for updates, which I have now changed to a time when I am not up yet or apt to be driving, but also a time when my overnight charging should have finished.

I had an update override a charging one time when I had them both set for 1am. I would have thought the charging would just be delayed or the update delayed, but no, the update installed but the charging didn't happen afterwards.

Maybe somewhere Ford mentions this could happen if they coincide - the update overrides and cancels the scheduled charge? Not the best way to have it programmed, in my opinion.

Luckily I didn't absolutely NEED the extra joules that morning, but if I had, it would have been a real pain.

Last night I spoke with a Ford tech about the lack of a Bluecruise update after 1.0. She provided the standard answer that the updates happen when they happen. But, she also told me that I hadn’t had ANY updates in several months and the likely reason is that I follow the ABC process pretty religiously each night and my scheduled OTA updates have either been scheduled for 1:00 AM or 3:00 AM. According to her, updates are not processed unless the vehicle is parked, completely off, and the charging door is closed. I’ve been following many of the ”lack of OTA update” threads and I don’t recall ever reading that the charge door must be closed to get updates. Anyone else get this info?

My last update according to the truck was 10.1.1 last October. FordPass had a different update listed before the update info disappeared.

Have not heard this up to now, I had a non-inhibit update hit my truck while I was DCFC a couple years ago, actually it might have executed right after I unplugged and closed the port door & cover.

In that situation I experienced the once in a blue moon IPC blackout for a few minutes, then it came back. This happened within 6 months of my first year.

More recently, I was AC charging in my garage, and another non-inhibit update processed mid day, it paused the charging session, and I had to resume the session via Fordpass.

Seems as though that instruction runs counter to the recommended practice of plugging in at night and setting the truck up for scheduled preconditioning departure time in the morning.

A few folks have changed the execution time to later in the AM hours ie an hour or so prior to departure, that way your charging session has likely finished and the update can complete before you drive off to work.

In my recent situation, changed the update time to 1300 hrs 1pm, but the update was non-inhibit so time frames don't matter, they happen at random times.

BTW, we have a couple members who experienced the inconvenience of an incomplete overnight charge, they depended on the energy for a long commute, @Pioneer74 was that you? IIRC?

If what she said was true, it wasn’t a function of whether you are moving electrons, but whether the charging door was actually closed. ??? Just sounds wrong to me. My charges are usually done before 3 AM, which is where I had the OTAs set for for a little while.

Yes, it's WRONG, unless they have changed the strategy since my real world experiences.

I park my truck in the garage connected to the mobile charger at all times when parked.

Automatic updates are scheduled for Mondays at 1a.m.

Last update was 2/4/25, software update 10.1.1.

I don't understand why Ford is telling you the charge door has to be closed.

I’m already at 10.1.1. Maybe I haven’t gotten updates because I’m all caught up and that’s the reason.
