PAAK - Any tips for a more reliable experience?

Background:
Pixel 8 Pro - Android 15, with Ford Pass v 5.9.0

Firstly, I have no issues at all with using my key to do the things that the key should do, but using the phone is a different experience.

For walking up to the truck and unlocking, I have about a 10% success rate. I usually have to ether open the Ford app, or use the door panel keypad.
My truck got the "Walk-away" lock feature, and this works reliably 90% of the time. It's not bulletproof, as I still wait a distance away from the truck and watch the mirrors. for verification.

I have about a 60% success rate for starting the truck with the phone. It's usually hit or miss with starting.

Is this similar to what you guys are seeing, or are there things I can do to get this to work more reliably?

Having the App open on your phone is best (not fool proof) method of getting these functions to work properly. I still often have to put the phone in my hand to get door unlock to work in a timely manner.

I have an iPhone 16 and I’m probably around 85% of the time everything works. Unlocking is mostly good. Seems like I have to put my hand in the handle sometimes twice for it to “wake up” and unlock. Starting I’d say is more like 99% it works pretty good. Walk away lock is the biggest thing for me. It’s more hit and miss. Sometimes I can barely walk away and horn chirps mirror fold. Other times I can walk away far away and nothing. They need to make it like GMs walk away lock. Once the last door is closed within about 10 sec vehicle locks. Does not matter how close or far you are from it. Now what I have found is if I have the truck remote started then it’s “awake” so to speak and then it recognizes me everytime I walk up to it without fail.

I carry my key fob in my pocket, so mine works 99% of the time+iPhone 15
I do use the phone for preconditioning, checking whether I remembered to plug it in, etc.
It does pop up and tell me that it locked the truck with walk away lock, even if I locked the truck when I got out?

My PaaK works so well I'm surprised when it doesn't. Samsung S24, Android 14. The S21 I recently replaced worked just as well. On my wife's Navigator I'm surprised when it actually works.

Have you optimized for PaaK? Also, a phone reboot generally clears any issues I have.

hmmm. Yours looks different. I’m on iPhone 16. What version of Ford Pass are you running. I don’t have the battery optimization

5.10.0. Probably the difference between Apple and Android. That looks right to me.
