I much prefer the way my truck drives when it is in sport mode. But, IMO, the blue instrument panel from normal mode is much better looking than the white and gray panel while in sport. Does anyone know of a way to make the panel look like it does in normal model while in sport? Perhaps a setting in FORSCAN?

Not possible from anything I've ever seen or found. You can go to the Forscan thread and search through the spreadsheet for a setting like that. It's Fords way of reminding you that you are in a different drive mode. This seems to be a big government issue anyway since they won't even let you leave it in Sport mode without a confirmation each drive.

I previously posted that I always drive in sport mode though on my '22 Lariat edition, I find no change in the screen color. No changes except for the "S" that shows up on the screen. I do wish that I could make sport mode the default & this is the first time I've read EPA testing mandated that default can't be changed. I'm always appreciative of scanning these posts!!

Are you on a very old version of software?

How about Offroad, does it change to an orangish highlight on your instrument cluster??

I'm presuming that I'm up to date on software updates - I've got automatic updates turned on. My '22 truck was a demo model with a manufacturing date of April 2022; it had only 600 miles on it when purchased in Nov 2023. Maybe this very early lightning model wasn't equipped with ability for dash to change colors; I've never put it in off-road mode to know whether dash changes color in that mode
An update on 6/3. This morning on my way to work I selected off-road mode and saw for the 1st time, the change in color. I switched to normal mode and then sport mode and had never noticed that there was a color alteration depending on what mode one was in. My apologies for claiming that my '22 Lariat edition did not change colors!

They all have the capability, have since day 1. The driver info display changes colors based on which drive mode you've chosen.

Go into driving mode on your infotainment screen, select sport mode, and then take a picture of your instrument panel and show us what you are talking about please.

Not true. Ford actually made a change to lock the mode, but had to remove it due to a technicality.

Actually it's because allowing the vehicle to start up with electronic stability control disabled violates FMVSS 126, and some of the drive modes disable ESC. Rather than locking out Off-Road mode from being saved, Ford rolled back the whole feature.

I have 10,000 miles on my truck over a year. Drove it 5,300 miles over 22 days. Never noticed any colors...

Today I played with the modes and watched the colors. The difference between Normal and Sport is almost unnoticeable. I never noticed it.

On the Mach-E, Unbridle is very noticeable.

This is what made the most sense to me. I looked into it further to see what the actual guideline is that Ford is having to follow and it seems to be covered here https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/fmvss/ESC_FR_03_2007_0.pdf

"S5.4.1 The vehicle’s ESC system must always return to a mode that satisfies the requirements of S5.1 and S5.2 at the initiation of each new ignition cycle, regardless of what mode the driver had previously selected except if that mode is specifically for enhanced traction during lowspeed, offroad driving and is entered by the driver using a mechanical control that cannot be automatically reset electrically. If the system has more than one mode that satisfies these requirements, the default mode must be the mode that satisfies the performance requirements of S5.2 by the greatest margin."

That last part is the unfortunate bit for the drive mode to default to "Normal" opposed to "Sport" even though "Sport" leaves ESC alone, "Normal" most likely satisfies the ESC requirements in a greater margin.

I loved when "Sport" mode stayed persistent through power cycles, I prefer the braking strength over Normal and/or One Pedal, but wish Sport allowed for Normal steering effort..
