Powertrain malfunction

I have a 2023 Ford Lightning ER.
Today I was going to get lunch and a service soon light came on. I have 19000 miles and know I have to service at 20000. While I was going through the parking garage I noticed the truck was accelerating even with my foot off the accelerator. I tried to accelerate but it would not accelerate. I stopped and was backing up and the accelerator started to work. Then a sudden burst of power happened and I slammed the back corner of my truck into a concrete column. I am pissed see attached. I think Ford should pay for my damages

My truck has been in repair shop for 3 weeks to fix the body damage, before Ford dealer will try and find out the cause. I sent a message directly to Ford who monitors this site and have not heard anything from them as of yet.
I have had 2 acceleration events in a parking lot without my foot on the go pedal. Last time it seems like I hit the resume cruise control on the steering wheel? I know it's not supposed to reingage from under 22mph IIRC. But lucky for me hitting the brake canceled it before I hit anything. Any one else have this unintentional acceleration?

I was backing up after I was stopped when I hit the concrete post. I had the powertrain malfunction come on after my service soon light then it was accelerating on its own as I was going through the garage. I hit my brakes to go over a speed bump then it was accelerating on its own around 5 miles an hour. I gave it throttle and would not go (turtle mode ). I had decided I cant go get lunch so I pulled in a parking space but it was a valet spot and did not want to get scolded .I was backing out of spot and had to stop because of car coming around the corner then let off the brake and gave it juice and wouldn't move then a sudden burst of power and hit the pole. I'm like you has this happened to anyone else?

So I just got word today from my dealer that the battery cell parts are backordered the shipment mine will be a part of will hit San Francisco at the end of the month, and I was apparently 2nd in queue less than a week ago. Is anyone else experiencing an extended wait time for battery cells to be shipped? This means I’ll have been without my truck for about 2 - 2-1/2 months by the time I get it back.

I have been waiting two weeks for Ford to ship a replacement battery module #7 to my dealer to replace the one with a bad cell. Late today I learned that they will be shipping it at the end of the week. It’s being shipped by truck and the arrival date at the dealership is still unclear. Once it arrives the service tech can remove the battery from my truck and replace the module with the faulty cell before reinstalling the battery.

This is the second time I have had to have a battery module replaced. Cell #96 in module 9 went bad on February 1 last year. The truck has 22k miles on it, 11k since the first module replacement. You can probably guess what I am thinking…

What are the chances the dealer would take a truck in on trade that currently has this issue so I can drive home in a new 2024 flash? :cwl:

They do that all the time. They dont care. My buddy had his PB in the shop waiting on a part and they traded him into a new one. Typically when they know the issue and what is needed to fix youll get the same amount as if you came in trouble free

Just under 30k miles, I got the P0B24 error on Christmas Eve. Bad timing. I was still able to take a 1,700 mile road trip. The error came back a couple times, but I cleared it. Charging was unusually slow above ~93% AC charging with 240V/80A. Fast charging on Tesla was normal speed to ~83%, then slowed more than normal to protect the battery.

The dealer shared a screen shot from FDRS showing four modules' voltages. The voltages in cells is within 17 mV range, 3.962 - 3.979 mV. Except one cell is 3.940V in module 3 they highlighted for replacement.

They're ordering a new module 3. They're saying shipping will be slower as it has to go via ground, but are hopeful they'll have the new module and installed within a week.

The dealer said the vehicle is HVB is staying disconnected until the new module arrives. Is that going to cause the low voltage battery to discharge and damage itself in the next week?

I had the same code. Dealer did an update, charged to 100% and a couple of cells straightened up. ? You didn't get the reduced power notification on the power meter on dash? Once I had the code it also wouldn't charge. Good thing you got to finish your trip.

Should be fine, hopefully you have the newer 12V battery monitor sensor that keeps the lead acid fully charged normally, which extends its life.
