That's awesome! The lightning is my first time driving a truck and EV. I've been so impressed I don't think I'll ever need to buy another vehicle.
Iā€™ll do an actual intro post soon. But, I have owned nothing but trucks since I was about 20. Driving a car feels strange. The dodge is getting lemon lawed and was taking crap from the guys for not buying a ford like most of them drive. (Though Iā€™m not sure the lightning is going to stop thisā€¦ dun care)

I drove EVERY ā€œfull sizeā€ truck except the hummer. Denaliā€™s, AT4, Tundras, gladiator. All of em. The lightning I drove just to check the box along with the eco boost, hybrid, 2.7 and a CPO Raptor. Was so surprised by the lightning everything else was trash.

think Iā€™m really going to like this big ass golf cart.

You will, I moved out of my SR Mach-E and 2014 Ram 1500 to my xlt er. The 2 years and 30k miles on the Mach-E showed me it was great, but range was an issue in winter.

Yeesh. You guys are worse than Grady White owners.

no need to ignore - Iā€™ll see myself out.
I hear you.
There is a lot to learn here, but you have to have a thick skin sometimes. I take some hits for telling people of my frustrations with trying to make it places in an ER. I still own the truck because, as was said above, it is INCOMPARABLE in terms of a smooth, comfortable and powerful ride. That said, when we leave town, we take the wife's car.

Example: I am going to San Antonio this weekend. 150 miles away. No place to charge in between. I drive 75 (the speed limit) and, with little traffic, I would be pushing my own air. Wind will be 15-20 against me. 1.5 mi./kWh is what I would expect. Charge to 100% in my ER before I leave, and arrive with 24% of my ER battery remaining. That's the hard facts. I have a lot of highway miles to back that up.

The only viable charger near our event in SA is at a WalMart, and if you look at the comments in PlugShare, it is occupied all day every day. Expect to wait. So, instead of spending 2 hours of my short trip not with my grandchild but instead trying to get a charge to get back home, we will take the wife's car. The one you can put gas in and get along your way. No drama.

Another example: I drove to an event about 60 highway miles away the other day. Left with 93%. Drove hard on the way back and arrived home with 24% charge. Burned 90 kWh in about 130 miles. 1.46 mi/kWh. If you drive open road at speed, you will not get very far in an SR.

So, not trying to talk you out of it, but I will say this. Lots of people here like to post numbers of how good the mileage they get is. (Not accusing anyone in this thread.) Be very aware of what your expected driving conditions are. Mileage varies greatly.

I like to make sure buyers know that they are buying a truck that (if they don't have the time and inclination) they will leave at home sometimes, unless they are willing to make big changes in how they travel.

Standard response has been ā€œwhat if like the grid goes down?!

you think youā€™ll be able to get premium for the vette if the grid is down?ā€

well said. The wife has the wrangler we can (in say; a hurricane pinch) load up and evac to distance. Iā€™ve got an 8 mile daily commute with maybe quarterly weekend getaways. Or 40 mile holiday travel but weekend Home Depot or nursery trips. So there is a truck need. Maybe 5% of my drives are 100+ miles. And Iā€™m getting more into the ā€œIā€™d rather flyā€ point of life for anything further than 8hr total. Though Iā€™ll probably plan a longer one for Sā€™s&Gā€™s

Feel like im the target audience.

Was using general numbers my guy. Was also talking about charging while I was there. And I also didnā€™t give any indication how long I would be there charging.

Do you have experience towing a light load you would like to share? Or are you just here to throw negative stuff out there? Going through your post history that seems to be your vibe.
Maybe you should learn some manners if you want people to help youšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

The Tesla SuperCharger network opening should resolve the San Antonio issue.

This right hear is reality, especially those of us in waste lands of long distance between chargers or nothing. Tesla may help, but I'm not going to pretend it will save us all. I'm pretty sure they will quickly be packed with slow charging cars and broken by more users who just aren't knowledgeable or careful.

I have my wife's Challenger for or needs now, the fact is we are making excuses for a ridiculous situation. If anyone had to wait an hour for a gas pump we would lose our minds.

I really enjoy my ER XLT, it is great around town and running on short 2 hour trips. Anything longer and I spend a ton of time planning and researching. I'm just up front about reality vs some very opportunist posts of efficiency.

If you understand how you drive and Lightning fits those needs you will love the truck. If you see, "320 mile range" and figure you are all set for your weekly 159 mile one way trip to the Alaskan wilderness you are gonna have a bad time. It sounds like you have it figured out.

With the current deals I wouldn't consider the SR. I have range problems with my ER on long road trips and now that I will be towing some it will be a bigger issue. Resale sucks on the Lightnings currently but I expect down the road it will be worse for the SR. I don't think there will be a big market for used SR trucks.
