No it's more involved, you need to remove shield, remove side fill plug, remove 10 fasteners holding the oil pan, drop oil via loosened pan into catch basin, inspect & clean reinstall or replace internal screen, clean mounting surfaces of old RTV sealant, mount pan with new RTV & fasteners and torque to 97 inch/lb, fill motor via side plug until level with plug opening, return plug to fill hole torque to 30 ft/lb

NOTE the procedure guide doesn't combine the oil change & filter change as a contiguous list of steps, but if I were to change the filters, I'd do it before the final fill, you should also reinspect the fluid level after running the motors for a few minutes once the new filter has been primed .
How on earth do you learn this?

I have a proprietary copy of the manual that I can't share.

I believe that folks who subscribe to FDRS system can access the manuals online, I haven't confirmed this, maybe a frequent user of that system could confirm.

That’s fantastic.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you dropping these nuggets from time to time.

Oh man I’d love to get my hands on this repair manual level of detail. I’ll explore FDRS at some point then.

That's too much work to do it more often than recommended. A big appeal of an EV to me was reduced maintenance.

Does your manual give the estimated hours? Looks like a $1000 job at the dealership to me.

No labor time charts in the version I have.
Our service advisors should be able to give an estimate.

If I recall: someone said oil service around 200K

Truck has just over 18K
200 K is the coolant

150 K is the motor oils

There is a thread on purchasing service manuals. If memory serves me correctly, I believe you can buy a full factory service manual for the Lightning for about $100 from servicemanuals.com.

I’m in FDRS all the time. In fact I’m updating a truck as we speak and I’m not aware of any manuals or service info. That all seems to be on the PTS side which quite expensive so I only go into that using the 3 day pass when I really need specific info. If there is something I’m missing in FDRS hopefully someone will correct me. 😁

Thanks for the clarification, PTS/IDS is probably how that information is accessed.

How much fluid do they hold and how much were the filters? You have part numbers?
I don't remember the exact fluid level as the protocol is just to fill until it just barely runs out of the fill, like a standard differential service. But I know it was several quarts. I want to say the filters were like 80 something each?

I didn't feel it was necessary to do the full disassembly for the inner filter screen so I just did a fluid extractor fluid change so it was pretty painless.

When I get closer to 50K I might do the inner screen. For now I think this is more than enough.
