I'm not sure if I was supposed to get this with my purchase or not but today a Ford Connected Charge Station Pro was delivered to me. I purchased my Lightning about a month ago. Is this normal?

Also, I'm using my Tesla charger with and adapter to charge my truck. Is there any advantage to switching out the chargers?

If you bought an Extended Range truck, you get the Charge Station Pro

Thanks, I was just reading about that. I wonder if it's worth swapping out the Tesla charger for this. I see this is 80 AMP and I think the Tesla is only 60.

If your electrical panel can handle 100 Amps (required to get 80 AMPS out of the CSP.) it might be worth changing. Otherwise stay with the Tesla. They make a good charger and you are used to it.

If you swap it, make sure the wiring can support the 80 amp max rating and the circuit breaker is updated to 100 amp, your electrician could update the circuit capacity.

If that's not possible or you don't want to spend the extra money, stay with the Tesla EVSE and sell the FCSP

Keep your Tesla charger. It so more future proof than the ford unit. All cars are switching to NACS so you your next vehicle probably won't need an adapter with the Tesla charger but would with the ford charger.

Your lucky, got my truck in February, call SunRun four times and they are “escalating “ my case again to get a charger.

Just reporting - bought truck 4/29/24. Asked dealer about the Charge Station Pro and they put in some kind of request for me. I then had to go on line at Ford.com and order it. It arrived within 3 weeks.
It's a "Free" station but cost $3,000 to run 100 amp wiring (Aluminum to from far side of the house to 100 amp breaker box in the garage then 50 ft. of copper) to where I wanted it and then we found out it is not designed well for the power to come in from the bottom. Connector had to come in from the side. I mounted it on a pole outdoors by my parking pad, not in a garage (I dug the trench!) Seems to work by just plugging in.
Connecting the Ford app to it is NOT working. I'll be on the phone with Ford tomorrow.

FYI, the FCSP won't charge NACS vehicles currently (Tesla). The CCS1 to NACS adapters don't provide energy over the correct pins, and a J1772 to NACS adapter doesn't fit without destructive manipulation (cutting out a plastic tab, which I wouldn't do.).

How do we get Ford to join the First Energy / Potomac Edison EV program?

I just talked to Potomac Edison - they have a $0.02 / Kwh discount 11pm - 6am if you are using certain charging stations - but the Ford stations don't qualify for the program. The acceptable chargers range in price from $450 - $600 so quite a long ROI if you got the "free" Ford charger.

With my 80 amp Ford Charge Station Pro I could do a complete fill up in that time window so it could be $2 / fill up.

ERs lost the dual chargers for 24, hence cannot utilize the FCSP capacity. There’s an entire thread about it.
