As my delivery is coming close, I’m starting to get tons of push back from my family and significant other saying I’m making the wrong decision, and I will regret not having gas because of the range.

Being told that this isn’t a family vehicle and “good luck getting to “x””. It’s really weird, but it’s pushing me to look at ICE F-150s again.

While looking, similar lariat builds are within a few thousand to more expensive than the lightning after the credits.

Im so conflicted right now. To be fair, it has really taken out the joy I had in getting the lightning. Now I’m just bummed.
Advice is cheap…except for that coming from family….it has its own costs to ignore😏

That said, what are your “range“ needs that are driving the concerns? Also, is your incoming Lightning a SR or ER?

My biggest range need is when I got hunting in the winter 170 miles away in a very remote area. I ordered an ER Lariat.

Get it and prove them wrong. People are so used to getting 300+ miles to the tank that they never consider how few miles they actually drive in a single day. Plugging in every night is a lot more appealing to me than going the gas station every week.

Edit: And don't forget about the performance! That is most important feature to me. Take a naysayer for a ride and see if they can hold their excitement in.
I don’t have the option to plug in every night living in the city and having to park on the street 95% of the time. Charging often will be a challenge.

Buying my first EV led me to selling all my remaining ICE vehicles for EVs. The only reason I went back to gas was because I needed a pickup and there was no electric pickup. Now I have 2, a Lightning and a R1T and I don't plan on selling either of them for a gas vehicle.

The only type of car I could see going back to gas for is a sports car. A convertible, a targa, something 6 or 7 spd manual transmission. That itch has not yet been satisfied by EVs...

I drove my family from my house in The Hamptons NY, to your state this weekend. We got to Knoebels and then to Hershey on a single charge. Stayed at a hotel in Hershey that had a destination charger and drove back with no issues. We own a few vehicles and did not need to take the electric truck. When I purchased this vehicle, my wife told me I was insane since I can barely keep my phone charged (that's why my license plate is what it is) .

Not a family vehicle? We packed all of our luggage in the frunk. My sons have so much room in the back and they love it and all the plugs and usb ports to charge all of our devices. Like my ICE f-150 its got a huge interior. Unlike my ICE F150, It's a dream to drive long distances. The kids love it when I drive them to school or pick them up in it.

Why am I sharing this? Because everyone I knew told me, that an EV wasn't for me. My 2016 Platinum has the 37 gallon tank because I also hated going to the gas station. Driving there and home using handsfree blue cruise was simply amazing. You really feel like you are driving the future. Whenever a Hemi Dodge or a BMW 3 wanted to "go" off a stop light, it's been pretty amazing to show them what a 6800 pound truck can do off the line. It's also my daily driver and work truck. A jack of all trades.

Too Long, Didn't Read? My family and friends told me that this truck wasn't for me . My family and friends now admit they were absolutely wrong and want me to drive them now.

It's that good.

Get the Lightning and enjoy.

I took my 2021 Bronco 2 door Badlands with manual transmission for a spin tonight after driving the Lightning Pro to work today. I honestly feel like I have a perfect garage for my wants and needs.

I will say, you definitely need to make sure there is an Electrify America station near you, because there are not many in PA ( I know, because of my trip this weekend) and Electrify America or EV-Go are really the only stations that will charge that big battery relatively quickly enough to not have a home charger.

Yes, @SmokingtheMeats try out the Lightning before passing judgement and see what your actual real world experience.

When I got my SR Lariat, I was having a hard time with parking and U turns.

Now that I have gotten used to my commute, it's second nature to drive.

A big plus is that the range keeps increasing due to how and where I drive.

25% increase in range for me was a big surprise.

Do not yet have mine but getting the same from my fishing club who all have gas pickups. More worried about the 7hr trip to my sons school, if not planned well the family could turn on me. Lol

Actually, no range increase. The Guess-o-Meter is reflecting your driving history. If it's local, and you drive highway, you will watch it drop.

Learn your miles per kWh for highway and local and multiply by battery size.

I have to say, I'm conflicted about selling my gas truck. I have a 2021 F150 Lariat. 502A option package, power running boards, Blucruise, 36 gallon tank, B&O Unleashed and underseat storage. My Lightning Lariat has a moonroof I don't want and an inferior sound system, in the sense that it isn't "Unleashed" and also without the power running boards. It would cost me $48k to buy it out at lease end. It would sticker at $72k to replace it with a 2023 optioned the same.

This truck is a dream to drive. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Makes me wonder if I'm making a mistake.

Same here, Mach-e then Lightning (even though I did reserve the Lightning before we ordered the Mach-e)

Once I get my Lightning the only gas car we will have left is my daughter's 2007 VW Beetle. Just can't see buying an EV at these prices for a 16 year old!
