I may be a weirdo but since calculating range really requires one to monitor MPK and calculate in your head, because the GOM is not adequate, I’d rather have remaining kWH displayed instead of SOC%. It would take one layer out of the “in your head” calculation.

Either that or give an option to display miles per SOC% instead of MPK.

it really is odd to me to calculate efficiency using one unit of measure but then use a totally different unit of measure for remaining capacity!

My '22 Platinum was super outdated as it was stuck in fleet mode when I got it. I did all of the updates using FDRS/Mongoose and I have the percentage now. I did the FDRS work 2 weeks ago. Odd that it doesn't show up for some even using that software.

Interesting. So I had looked up my VIN in FDRS back on 10/8/23. I took a screenshot:

I assumed that all of the above meant I had pending updates for those modules. But maybe not. Like I mentioned, I was mostly curious and have never actually used FDRS to do updates.
It'd be interesting to see if you still show it. It could also be that other updates need to be installed before that one will pop up.

Feel free to check:

Since I had checked back in Oct on my 2 day access, I had recieved 4.3.2.1 around thay time and then 6.1 and 6.2 most recently.

I may end up doing the fdrs updates myself in the future. But I go in tomorrow to have the becm update done along with some other recall work, so just figured I'd wait until after all this is done.

Updated list is below and the IPC update is gone. Now I'm really confused since @jw442 just updated 2 weeks ago and he was able to pull the update.

Interesting. Maybe since his was a '22 he still had the update available? Maybe they pulled it for all '23 VINs. Don't know.

Maybe. Hadn't noticed his was a 2022. I'll keep an eye on that in future VIN searches. I'm still learning when it comes to the Lightnings and especially the Mach E's. Sooooo many updates on those.

I wonder if the design of the IPC was revised somewhere along the way, and became non-updatable. All ‘22s seem to have received (or are able to) the SOC IPC update, while very few ‘23 owners are reporting a successful SOC display update.

I wonder if the IPC update will show up after applying the APIM update?

I can tell you this from personal experience: When I first got into FDRS and the OTA fiascos two years ago, my truck was repeatedly failing on old IPC OTA that job 1 trucks needed to activate bluecruise. At that point, I asked Jesse to look at my truck in hopes of some kind of guidance. What was strange is that the IPC update was not showing for me in FDRS. By then I had already gotten my Mongoose/FDRS, but he asked me to get FORScan also because he figured he was going to have to side-load the IPC update. However, as soon as I plugged my truck into FDRS and did the network scan, it pulled the IPC update from the servers.

I'm not saying that if you guys plug your truck into FDRS that the IPC update will miraculously pop up for you. I am just telling you about what happened to me. Right now, we have two 2022 owners here that said they got this update with FDRS; one of them as recent as two weeks ago. Reading through this thread:

https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...930-rba-chm-frunk-chime-vol-soc-digits.16050/

The update was released mid July and was rolled out for about 4 weeks before people stopped reporting it. During the roll-out, both 2022 and 2023 trucks reported getting it.

Just throwing this out there but I believe the frunk chime update that enabled the SOC display also revised the the threshold for the powertrain fault. Our '22 threw the fault right after the update and this was reported by many others as well. So maybe Ford wanted to slow down the powertrain faults or something changed with the '23 models not needing the revised threshold.

Do recent '23 models have the louder frunk chime that mutes the radio if it isn't fully closed?

Thanks for the research. @TaxmanHog used to put a poll on the update threads asking if you got it and also what year truck you had. Sounds like that would have been a good update thread to do that too. Probably too late now.

<mild rant>I wish more people would fill out their profile or do a signature that showed the year and trim they owned. It would make answering questions easier. </mild rant>
