2024 F150 Lightning Flash
Hi all,
Less than a month into this Flash and at about 1350 miles I started hearing sounds from the front that is like a zipper or zip tie. There is also a slight buzz feeling in the truck. Comes in about 25mph and seems to be related to speed. I’ve turned off the climate with no change. Turning, braking, speed bumps all have no effects. I have looked under the truck but I don’t see anything jumping out at me.

I took it to the dealer who says it’s “normal to the vehicle”. I’m not sure I agree. I test drove several lightnings and none have made this sound and neither did this one for the first 1300 miles.

has anyone else had something similar or have any ideas?

thanks!

I think I managed to get a snippet. Original video was too large. Pretty faint in the audio but it’s there.

So wait...the dealer acknowledged there is a weird sound? That's when I think, "show me one model on the lot that does the same and I'll believe you."

My comp doesn't have any sound so can't listen to the video yet, but based on the description I've not heard anything like that. Nor do I recall reading about anyone hearing it. Doesn't sound "normal" to me, I'm sure someone here will be able to provide some sound advice.

There’s no such sound from my 2023. Perhaps the dealer should be strapped to the front fender like a deer carcass and asked to pinpoint the “normal” sound while you drive on a wide variety of road conditions over considerable distances.

That sound is not normal, second opinion from another dealer is called for.

Swung by another dealer and this time an actual tech took a ride with me. They agree it’s not normal. Says it’s similar to some issue with the ICE vehicles and the 4WD vacuum. Cycled the truck through Normal, Sport, Tow & off-road changed the pitch of the sound a little but stays consistent.
Recommended I drop it off so they can diagnose. Shop is backed up so can’t get it in until the 20th

Might be something stuck in the tread of one of your tires.
An actuator for the locker or park pawl in the rear motor may not be activating correctly.
A CV joint failing.
