I currently daily drive a 2022 Honda Accord, im thinking of selling it and getting the 2024 F150 Lighnting - Lariat. I've been wanting a bigger car for a while but this one is BIG. TBH my only use for a truck is hauling bigger items every now and then and home improvement store runs. I dont work a trade and I wont be towing anything. How is this deal and is it worth moving on from my Accord that has treated me really well and close to paying it off (2.5 years left). I'm not sure if I will regret getting such a big truck, but I did enjoy sitting in the cabin and driving it!

Sorry I can’t talk you out of it. I when from a small car to a maverick which was not quite big enough to a lightning lariat. No regrets. I learned to park just fine and it drives like a dream. If you have to buy something the lightning is the best vehicle I have ever owned.

There are cameras and sensors all around it, so I'm not really sure why it would be "hard to park". The front camera is something I don't think I can now ever live without, since I can now pull up to within an inch of something. The 360 degree overhead camera view also makes it extremely easy to park. My wife's SUV doesn't have such cameras and it makes me nuts. I guess since I've been driving a full-size pickup for about ten years I don't really notice the size anymore. IDK
I agree with your observation that I couldn't do without the cameras. Especially wide angle front and rear is a must for me to get out of my driveway into a busy street. However 360 on my truck sucks. The stitching of the images makes the corners almost useless which is often when I need maximum resolution.

The details aside what you are missing is context. He is not moving from an ICE F150 to an electric one like you. Parking an F150 is a PITA when you compare it to a Honda accord simply due to turning radius and size even with camera:
  • I usually have to hunt for booty friendly spots that I could back into so my nose is not sticking out too much.
  • I have to find spots that cars on both sides have left enough space so both me and my passengers can get out without banging the doors to the neighboring cars and so they can get into their cars without damaging my truck.
  • I have to pass in spots that are not long enough for parallel parking and keep circling around and go a lot farther to find a street parking that is big enough.
I have driven and parked boom-trucks and box trucks much larger than this without camera. It is not the question of if it is possible. It is how it compares to his Honda.

Hah. Good point, but I think most people do know what the abbreviation for postscript means.
I'm not sure about that. It's been at least two generations since people communicated with typewriters or written letters where a cursor and backspace button weren't available.

P.S. this is totally off subject. Sorry...kind of.πŸ˜†

I know i'm late, but i think you will like the choice you made. I went from a 2017 honda accord hybrid to a 2024 lariat lease and i enjoy it very much. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things i dislike about the truck. but i'm very picky and tend to be that way with every vehicle. This has been the most versatile vehicle i've had - fits my family comfortably, weather is NEVER a concern (i live in PA, we get snow), since it's electric instead of gas, my monthly cost of use is not insane like it would be in a regular truck (i used to have a ram 1500 and my wallet hated me), it's a very comfortable and enjoyable ride 99% of the time.
