O wow! Why would anyone order a pro then? I wonder if that means they won't produce any consumer pro models until then and perhaps only focus on the commercial fleet orders.
They REALLY want to convince you to spend the extra money and upgrade to a XLT. Ford probably isn't making much money on the Pros or maybe even losing money on them. The Pro is a gimmick to get you excited/interested only to be disappointed when it's sold out forcing you to order a higher trim. The people who are set on the Pro are going to end up waiting over 2 years since they reserved to take reservation.

Yes, I get that impression too.

Next autumn means after September 2023 for a retail Pro.

I think Ford is trying to get those that extended to go up in trim and order an XLT, if you are in a rush to get one.

Get this feeling that Ford will be pushing the commercial fleet Pro out first in late 2022 thru 2023 since they usually order in quantity.

I think Fall 2023 is a placeholder that does indicate it's not a priority. Do have to wonder if they will let anyone extend for PRO again if they run out again. They might just say "take it or leave it" for this next go around.

It's disappointing when they hide behind this notion that their market research has told them to "make more Lariats". While there is demand for Lariats, it's disingenuous to ignore the significant demand for PRO's which is far higher than the corresponding allocation for them. They sold out Pros in one wave. Which means they likely could have sold 6 times more PRO's across 6 waves.

I have doubts that there will be enough Pros to satisfy demand for those that extended their reservation.

I was surprised they offered price protection, so maybe I will be surprised on this point, too.
Agreed. Although figure that the amount of extenders is quite small compared to how many trucks they are making this year. If they manage 150k trucks and 10% are Pros there are going to be more 2023 Pros on the road then there are all 2022 trims combined. They obviously don't have 15,000 extenders.

They definitely will sell out of them. My bet is Wave 3 or 4 or the first wave of invites that aren't extenders.

They are likely losing money on MY2023 Pros that are price protected. Even if they're not losing money, they would be making better margins if those batteries were put in an XLT or Lariat. The Platinum and Lariat trims are subsidizing the Pro trim and there's no way that the Lightning program would be viable if they didn't limit Pro trim production.

I would be surprised if they offered extensions with price protection beyond this model year.

Or they plan on putting cheaper LFP batteries in the Pro SR and won't be ready to do that until Fall 2023.

The irony is that the cheaper LFP batteries likely arent cheaper if they are made in China(CATL). If they are Chinese they risk killing the entire rebate. Ford doesnt have a North American LFP source lined up for anytime soon

I think Ford has made it clear they don't care about the rebate only margins, if the LFP Battery is cheaper for them then they wont care that it costs us the rebate. When they increase the Pro to $55k maybe then they will have a locally sourced LFP battery so they can argue "well the price didnt really increase if you get the rebate" because by then Chevy and Ram will most likely be close to being available.

I was looking to purchase a Pro for my small business, but since I am a sole proprietor I don’t qualify for the FIN (fleet)program. I guess I need to start looking for a decent used ICE to use until (at least Autumn 2023) I can order a Lightning / Chevy / Dodge. Want to make the switch to EV and don’t care who I get the truck from as long as it meets my needs.

Does anyone recall specifying trim level when extending? I tried looking back through the forums for any screenshots. It is just weird that they labeled this the pro wave. I feel like it should just be first half of extenders vs remaining extenders. I haven't heard many other people chime in though that got to extend not getting an invite yesterday.
I specifically remembering all available models available, except for the Pro. I remember being on the Pro page and hitting extend my reservation.

OP: I was a wave 6 extender for a Pro. You definitely had to pick a trim to extend for as Rickyv490's screenshot shows. I was invited to order yesterday. Since you extended for an XLT, you'll be in wave 2 which is supposed to go out on 8/24. As far as we know, you'll be able to pick any trim at that time if they haven't blocked the Pro like they did with the 22MY wave 2 invites.

Yes you had to select the model you were most interested in when you extended. I was in wave 6 and waited until the last day to extend.

This is not correct. BlueovalSK is the source for these batteries and they have 2 factories state side. Also have LFP ability. The giant Georgia factory, visible from I85, can't miss it, is the source right now and has the capacity for ~ 200,000 vehicles at full build out. Its been running for a few months now. Another one is coming up in Tennessee, and more in Kentucky IIRC. This why so much of the resistance to EV's is melting away, not just California any more...

Now where do the raw materials come from, like the bill tabulates, not going there. :)

I hope you're right. Last I saw they only had long term plans to build lfp there without any near term ability.

I do recall specifically selecting the XLT when extending in wave 4 as I figured it was likely to be available sooner than the Pro. Looks like I was wrong.

No invite yesterday...
