Tesla NACS Adapter Recall / Replacement Notice (10/24/24)

I received my replacement Adapter on 12/30/2024 via Fed-Ex. My replacement order number was 90004271. I have NOT yet received any notice from Ford that it was shipped. I did receive a Fed-EX tracking notice that it was shipped and was able to track it from Michigan to California. Shipping took about 4 days. The adapter does not look any different that the old one so I assume it's the Tesla supplied version. Used the new one yesterday and it worked fine.

LOL I just got the same email. The tracking link for the adapter that shipped “today” pulls up my shipment that got delivered 4 days ago.

10 weeks after the deadline to update your address for the replacement, there's still no word on my replacement adapter.

They are not going by original order number. I was order 2651 and was the first to get the replacement on here from what I can tell, with order notification at the end of October when Ford said we’d get the replacement and receipt the first day or two of November, before lower numbered orders.

Someone is blindly throwing darts at order numbers to determine what gets shipped as far as replacements go. Sorry to burst bubbles but Ford still can’t figure out supply chain management.

I gather you've never tried to get a Tesla repaired. I damaged the front bumper of a Tesla Model S and it spent about six months in the shop waIting for parts. My wife damaged the front bumper of our Lighting and I think the shop got all the parts it needed the day after asking for them. The Tesla repair also cost about 3 times as much. The six-month delay was a bit unusual but all body repair work on Teslas is insanely expensive.

Oh, and I think Tesla made the adapters that Ford is replacing.

By and large, Tesla has amateurish management, very much including supply-chain management, and Ford is a much better-run company. I'm glad Ford handled this recall as well as it did. I'm sure Tesla would have done worse.
