And when it first appeared, it was labeled “Public Charging”, I think.

Does this workaround properly precondition the battery? My previous understanding was that navigating to a charger is not enough, it must be selected from the chargers drop down menu.
Hard to tell this time of year, last Friday I did a road trip and briefly tested a TESLA station, but my SOC was relatively high so BMS strategy could have impeded maximum possible energy flow which was ~117KW at the start.

We can revisit the efficacy this winter.

My vehicle does not appear to have a “Charge Assist” app. How does one get this?
Make sure your enrolled in plug & charge, have an active CC on file, possibly this triggers a database to que a software update to your truck, if all this has been done and still no "Charge Assist" see what your dealer service adviser can do to help.

You can search for Tesla chargers and add them as a charging destination if you search "Tesla near *insert city you're going to*" and then on the list just scroll down until you get to the "Places" category and it will show up.

It will populate on the gauge cluster as a charger, but won't give you the charging percentages at arrival and/or departure on the ford nav screen.

I got it to work for the first one this past weekend on the trip to Maine, but after that I just used Google maps to get to the chargers I had previously planned out.

But that will not precondition enroute to the charger.

While that may be the case, it was the first charge it still peaked at 160kW...the later charges after the battery had some heat in it I just utilized the Tow/Haul mode 10-15 min from the chargers and watched the temp settle down via car scanner.

It's still a work around to get Tesla locations to populate on the nav. I do wish charge assist could be used while in motion though.

The last time I DCFCd, I started at 183KW at an EA with no preconditioning - just drove up and plugged in.

Correct, unless you can select from the Nav menu, it won't start the preconditioning. @Maquis's suggestion is one I have used. I also recently discovered that switching to Sport mode will condition the battery and can be used as a pseudo-precondition button. I tested this when it was over 100F last week. Left work and drove for 10-15 min and the battery temp meter stayed to the right of middle. I switch to sport mode and after about 20 min the temp was pegged in the middle.
I drive in Sports mode all the time, and have never seen this.

It was called "Charge Assist". Then, almost immediately, it was renamed "Public Charging". Really well though out...

On my Apps screen, it is still called Charge Assist. When I open it up, it is called Public Charging. Is anyone seeing it called Public Charging on the App screen?

I knew it changed, but I couldn’t remember which came first.

I logged some OBDII data from TorquePro when I ran the test. I'll dig out the CSV file and share it.

You'd probably fail the "when did Ford rename all cruise-related stuff 'BlueCruise' test" also...
