yeah screens just add another level of complexity. Besides if it isn't broken... There's a reason Tesla Superchargers are the standard.

I kinda like this idea incase of emergency i dont wanna scramble for credit info to proceed, im also concerned like other members mentioned to be charged double. Ill give this a try. Thanks
I can confirm in my usage, when I use the Tesla App, I do not get charged by Ford. I have not had an issue and I use it 1-2 times a month.

The one thing I don’t like about Superchargers is their lack of a screen. With my Tesla, the car display gives mewhat I want except price per kW.

I am confused though , from reading this thread. I joined the Tesla membership program, charged over 600 kW, on 1 month, and after the fact, figured out that I did not receive the discounted price.

In this thread I read some who say disable Plug & Play on the truck screen. Others say not to. I just canceled my Tesla discount membership.

What really works?
I just turned off plug n charge in the ford pass app. So far so good. I use almost exclusively SC when on road trips. I’ve found that the SC members rate is almost always cheaper than EA and others.

Several notes about using Tesla Superchargers:

A) yes, you have to get used to the 'no screen' unit, for those of us CCS owners, where no 'visual' evidence of activation or charging are evident. It can seem awkward. You have to rely on your APP, whether the native Tesla APP, or your FOrd Pass APP, or the truck's on-screen 'app', or the BlueOval within the Charge Port, or even your 'ears'. The Supercharger unit clicks, and eventually ramps up to speed, as it progresses.

B) as a long-time EV owner, and CCS user, I can appreciate Tesla's 'non-screen' units, as they tend to be MUCH more reliable, and, frankly, easier to use. I LOATH dealing with screen input or trying to 'see' the tiny print or dealing with touchscreen that don't 'touch', etc, etc.
With an app required to activate the unit, or with PLUG N CHARGE(easy!), there's little need for any external 'screen' for most any other real reason. Either your APP, or your vehicle's screen, will already give you feedback.
The real reason that third-party CCS charge units have 'screens', and even card swipe/chip readers, is that they want to be able to accept Credit Card and other types of payment methods, and they are dealing with CCS vehicles that DON'T necessarily have any native way to 'plug n charge' without some type of external activation.

C) if you are one who wants to be a Tesla APP Member, and use the Tesla APP to PRE-ACTIVATE the Supercharger unit, you'll want to make sure to use the app PRIOR to plugging in your truck, and make sure the unit actually HAS activated, before you do. Tesla will then BILL you.

D) if you simply want the easiest and quickest method to use a Tesla Supercharger, simply plug in. The activation will then happen thru your PLUG N CHARGE protocol. FORD will then BILL you thru your BlueOval account.

E) some have reported that they are being charged/billed by FORD, when they 'thought' they were activating the Tesla Supercharger with their Tesla APP. I think every situation can be different, and there are probably simple reasons why this happens to an owner, but it's likely that this is simply the truck's Plug N Charge protocol taking over, when nothing else has activated the unit before hand. Who knows, but if the Tesla activation doesn't take priority, the truck will, because, well, it has been plugged into a charger unit. I would suggest that if a Tesla activation from the app doesn't seem to work, UNPLUG, first, then retry the activation thru the app, BEFORE plugging back in, etc.

I know these things can seem annoying, and maybe trivial to some of us others, but I find that using the Tesla Supercharger network of locations is absolutely a TOTAL game-changer, and I find no reason to worry about doing anything other than simply PLUGGING IN and letting the Plug N Charge activation protocol take over, thru my Ford BLUE OVAL billing account. Easy. Simply. It works. Period.

The key you call out is you have to decide Tesla App or Plug N Charge prior to plugging in. steps above are key.

What I have found, no matter which adapter I use, I have to lean into the plug a bit until you hear the charger "click" in. usually within a few seconds of plugging in. Once it locks, I have found no issues. But, so far, every time I release early, I get an error. have seen this on both A2Z chargers and the Tesla/Ford provided adapters.

On not having screens, this is the way. Most with screens I have used require activation in an app anyway. The screen payments rarely work, and the non Tesla chargers are still hit and miss in my area. My wife and I spoke about this yesterday as we traveled in the polar plunge weather here in the Houston area (yes, tongue in cheek...It is not cold at 39...but, that is why I live here, I do not like cold weather). Driving to my father in laws in east Texas used to require a couple of hours on his 30amp dryer plug to have enough cushion to get home. There was a Shell recharge installed almost 2 years ago, but it has never reliably worked. Tesla just works.

What is still frustrating to me is the fact that the Ford Navigation still does not show Tesla chargers. we have had access for almost 12 months. Terrible miss as my truck kept alerting me yesterday that I was out of range of a charger, when I was just a couple of miles from the Tesla SuperCharger. I was not using it for navigation, but still kept warning me.

EDIT: On my charge session yesterday at a Tesla SuperCharger, I had a 14 minute session that averaged about 170kWh, I guess the cold weather helped keep the battery from over heating. I did not need all the juice, but I wanted to see how it would taper off, which it really didn't much. was at around 165kWh when I unplugged to get home.

Update 1/21 i tired out the tesla chargers 325kw this morning. Had bad connection first day. So i gave it a try again this morning. Everything works now, whats good about this location ( Harrison, ny) comes with non tesla adapter in the chargers.

* yes i parked sideways, first charger was out of service, so just note that before attacking lol
