So, I'm now in this club. I've been counting on 2023 delivery, but today I got my railroad car number and Union Pacifc says it's scheduled to be unloaded on the 26th. So, I now have a little hope of getting it before the end of the year.

I have filed for the Federal tax incentive twice before and both times they needed the registration info in addition to the purchase agreement/bill of sale.
Who is “they”? Your accountant? None of this is required to be filed with you tax return.

That is great news. What was your estimated date range from Ford?
It's still showing up as blank. Also, I checked the rail car status this morning (obsessed....) and it's changed to ETA of 12/23!

"They" is the IRS. After filing my return, they wanted the supporting documentation -- purchase agreement, state registration info, for my 2016 Model X. And did the same to us a couple years prior on a hybrid. They (IRS) did not request any additional info for our Model Y purchased in 2020.

Still received my refunds in a timely manner.

Lucky you! Got selected for “special attention.”
I’ve only submitted for one EV tax credit and never heard a peep from them.

This is what mine looks like. However, Ford chat was able to give me a rail car # even though they said it was on chip hold. Then you can track the rail car. I'm assuming/hoping the chip hold status is old news and the rail car # is correct.

I'm in the same boat. Blend date was 11/16, shipped on 11/28. Ford says ETA is 12/16-12/22 but according for Ford's CS and my dealer it's still in Blue Island, Illinois as of yesterday. I have railcar, but have been unable to track is successfully. Dealer says is very unlikely to arrive in CA before the end of the year, I'm still hopeful. It should qualify for some tax credit in 2023 as it's an SR XLT so well under the $80K cap.
I got the railcar number from CS. When I called the dealer they said they couldn’t track it. I asked them if it would help if I had a railcar number and they said “yes”. Fast forward and Ford CS keeps on telling me that it’s in a rail yard in Illinois. Dealer has been sending me updates of it going across North Dakota into Washington and into the Portland, OR rail yard today. Hope I gave them the right car number 😱

I finally got an ETA from Ford today - 12/27-1/2. My hope is growing! I'm definitely going to be checking ford.com and Union Pacifc's system every day to see if it slips.

Does anyone know how to get battery content information and anything else IRS may be interested in (for 23 tax year) if we don't make new year deadline for 22? We don't have it or no response may mean, we don't even get half credit if the information requested by IRS is incomplete. I am thinking at the time of the purchase may be the best chance to get it if Ford has that info. Any ideas how to approach this?

The ~Public~ statements I've read from Ford executives, they are confident that $3750 is available for retail personal use at a minimum.

I think they are rightfully playing it conservatively until the DOE evaluation of their power pack has been completed and published, though it's not an issue for tax filing purposes until spring of 2024, but in the meantime thousands of customers are making pragmatic decisions daily as to whether or not they will order/buy the truck with the credit value in mind.
