Minor gripe, but this is one of my pet peeves with this truck! It takes 3 full seconds from the moment the button is pressed until the moment the frunk begins to open. Then another 2-3 seconds to actually open. The actuator speed being slow is understandable given the size and weight of the frunk.
Is the initial 3 second delay in place just so that it can do the beeping? I've disconnected the beeping speaker so now it's just 3 seconds of nothingness.
Wondering if any of these (initial delay or actuator speed) can be altered in software.

linear actuator. boost the voltage and watch it spin.
in reality, nothing that I'm aware of.

Yep. It's slow. It's not very high on my list of things to complain about, but it's on the list. 😁

Agreed - it is slow, but I just hit the button while walking to the truck. In a store parking lot, it fun to watch passersby watch and try to figure out where the engine is......
This, but again the time and the loudness of the beep is unnecessary. I dont have any warning alerts on automated trunks...just on the frunk of the ford...

I wish.

Watch the truck freak out - unless you come to a full and complete stop, put in park, wait for longer than you think, then finally push the frunk release button on the dash.

And good luck with all the beeping that ensues if you decide to put it into drive before the frunk has completely closed and its had a chance to think about whether it's really closed for a few seconds.

The slowness and ridiculous logic Ford uses to manage the frunk is definitely a pet peeve. To the point I have to think about which vehicle to take for a busy school drop off line.

It's a great truck hampered by some really piss poor program logic.

If it was faster there would probably be lawsuits on either people getting Uppercut or fingers smashed as we all know people are not the most intelligent, i mean they did install a beeper to warn people that just opened it that its opening

Has anybody modified a frunk to use plain old gas springs? Are there ForScan codes for only using the frunk latch, not the linear actuators and the @&$* beeper?

The trunk on our Mach-E Select uses plain gas springs, and it has been just fine... In contrast, I've had the Famous Frunk Malfunction (requiring manual closing a couple of times to fix) after only having opened the frunk a couple dozen times since buying the truck.

I know most people wouldn't tolerate a manual frunk, but for some of us it might be preferred.
