772 miles until I cross 36,000 miles.

Any recommendations on things to have the dealer check before I get out of warranty?

only issue I have really had is the nagging rattling noise from the dashboard that was there from day 1. Seems like a fit&finish problem that no dealer would have an answer for - more of a quality control issue from Ford.

any obvious other things to check and get addressed while under warranty?

thanks!

Maybe worth seeing if they will fix the nagging rattling noise? Good to know you have not had any problems during you’re almost 36,000 miles!

Have them verify you have all your updates. People here have indicated after x days of not installing they will time out and only the dealer will see them after that.

I second getting an extended warranty. I know a few years ago they had a grace period until 41k miles I think to get the "new" vehicle Ford Protect warranty. It's cheap enough from online Ford dealers such as Grangier that I think it's worth it.

Is there a "Granger" equivalent for Canada?

I believe you can use a proxy address in the States to register the warranty in America, but have it applied in Canada.

EDIT: Or at worse, get a quote from Granger and bring it to your dealer letting them know that you'll pursue Granger unless they match or come within a percent of matching (something like that).

#1 Get an extended warranty through Granger Ford.
I’ve never had much appetite for paying for an extended warranty. Does Ford’s have a solid reputation, and what makes this dealer able to quote any better than another dealer?

what level of warranty is “the sweet spot” if there is one, as far as the levels of protection?

the quote I got seems to read that for about $2,500 and $100 deductible, I would get the highest level of protection out to 100,000 miles:

I wouldn't want a warranty on an electric truck through a 3rd party company. I wouldn't trust my truck in any other shop other than Ford's for warranty work.

I think I went with 10 years / 125k with a 100 dollar deductible. These are new vehicles, and I want to get at least ten years out of them.

Your ten year / 100k miles is a good choice as well!

With the extended warranty, should we wait until we're getting close to 36k before we get the warranty? I'm at about 16k miles in 16 months. And, I'm with KennyB123... I'd probably feel better with a Ford dealer warranty.

Thanks.

I used the Ford extended warranty on my last truck. It was just as easy as taking the truck in for factory warranty work. The dealer sees the warranty and handles the claim behind the scenes.

Dealers are free to charge whatever they want for the warranty. Some choose to mark it up high for more profit. Others choose to mark it up little and make their money on volume.

The warranty is transferrable, so it can be a great selling point to a private party. I'm going to get the 10/100 one. But it all depends on how long you plan on keeping the truck and how many miles you drive. I like to leave a little extra as a selling point. Another thing is that if you don't transfer, like if you trade in at a dealer, you can get a prorated refund of the unused warranty time.

The only advantage to getting the extended warranty early is its secondary benefits like rental car coverage. It's also a little cheaper if you get it within the first year. And it's subject to annual price increases, so buying early shields you from that.

I'm thinking about getting a Ford Extended Warranty. I guess they call it the Ford Protect Extended Service Plan.

I want to make sure I buy a Ford manufacturer warranty and not a dealership warranty.

Is the Granger Warranty cheaper than purchasing directly from https://fordprotect.ford.com/extended-service-plan?

The quote table from PJLightning above is significantly cheaper than what I'm seeing on fordprotect.ford.com, which seems to be the official site linked to from ford.com.

For instance, I'm seeing that a 10yr/100k with $100 deductible PremiumCARE EV plan from fordprotect.ford.com is $5,703.10 total (includes $373.10 in estimated taxes) compared to the $2,550 shown in PJLightning's table above. I'm also curious why the table above doesn't include the "EV" designation after the plan name, whereas fordprotect.ford.com distinguishes between ICE/EV by adding the EV suffix to each plan name.

Finally, I note that no Ford Protect Extended Service Plan increases the battery warranty. "The high-voltage battery assembly in your electric vehicle comes with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty and is not eligible for coverage under any extended warranty."

These are the prices that I'm seeing from FordProtect for my truck, which currently has 25k miles.

Good advice here, I decided to jump on an 8yr / 125,000mi warranty through Granger. At one point I thought I was only going to own the Lightning until a mid-size option or the T3 came out, but now I'm leaning towards hanging onto it for a while since it's been a fantastic ride so far.
