I do wish that they had a default mode that could be set to keep the car from "sending it" from a standing stop or a slow speed. It is not something that I *ever* want to do, and if I have the same thing happen on a ferry, it could push a car overboard or kill a ferry worker.

My Dad had this happen at a stop light (years ago), six cars including the one that hit one of the cars that was pushed into the intersection. I think he activated the cruise control by mistake while slowing (new to him car with stalks reversed from the previous model, thanks Mercedes!) and hit some edge case where it activated. The subsequent legal mess probably shortened his life although in the end insurance was very good.

It cancels it, doesn’t turn it off. When you look down you can see the crossed out speed, that’s how I know the surge was ACC.

I’m usually in a parking lot, post turn when it engages so I must be hitting it with my palms in my turns. A quick jab of the brakes stops it but I can see how someone can be in shock/panic and just slam on the accelerator.

Had this happen to me for the first time just yesterday. Was turning after clearing building security and my palm accidentally hit the cruise buttons as I was making a slight turn to clear the bollard. Notification popped up on the dash saying the speed was too low for cruise control to activate thankfully.

This probably means I should be looking forward to another bump in my insurance rates after 25% increase last year.

That is awful and frankly freaks me out a little since I ride. I never understood paying for Self driving that does not work. I think Tesla owners like most EV owners have a higher tolerance for risk but risking someone else's life is a bit different. And those that hold the stock have a bit of wishful thinking mixed in and want to see company succeed so they put up with more than an average consumer would. That is why it is OK to release a Cybertruck incomplete and charge more for it.

I think the liability should be shared by driver and the company so both drivers and auto manufacturers think twice about buying and selling something that does not work properly.

It's $7 there? Geez. In Ontario, Canada it's $20 with tax for auto car wash...

I like washing by hand anyway. Take a few hours for myself. It's meditative and therapeutic.

I occasionally hit the Stop (X)/re-start cruise control button when I mean to hit OK instead. Same location but different sides of the steering wheel. I actually did this once while sitting in stand still traffic and thankfully was able to hit my break before I went very far. Not sure thats what happened here though since it just kept going.

On a serious note, I wonder if they experienced what I have a few times. I've had two separate instances where I've stepped on the brake and the truck did not slow down as expected, it stuttered almost like ABS was engaged but without slowing down until finally the brakes grabbed.

The first time it happened I thought it was a legit malfunction, but the second time I took my foot completely off the brakes and then pressed again and it braked fine. The second incident made me wonder if the brake pedal and gas pedal are just closer than what I was used to on my Fusion and perhaps I was stepping on both pedals at the same time.

Anyone else encounter similar issues?

Ive absolutely had this happen. At least 5-10 times. I am pushing the brake, but truck is accelerating against the brake. I've always thought it was my size 15 feet accidentally hitting both petals. Hmmm. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K...

I thought I should mention this since seeing this accident and my experience a couple of days later. Whenever I see these types I usually think just like some of you that they must have touched the wrong peddle and are not quick enough realize that they have a problem and need to make sure to hit the break.

But today I was in a parking lot and most all the spots were taken except one I happened to see. So I tapped on the accelerator peddle and the truck just took off like if I had really gunned it. I immediately hit the break anticipating what I saw on the video that I was in for a ride if I could not stop it so I slammed on the break and held it there, but it did not keep going it immediately stopped accelerating so all was good. I kind of wondered if I had just given it too much peddle but that would not attribute to when I took my foot off the accelerator and it was still going until I hit the break. I have not been able to recreate it yet. It might be a specific spot that it does it. I want to find a nice empty parking lot some where and try different taps on the accelerator peddle to see if there is some point where it locks in after you tap and quickly remove your foot from the accelerator. You know if you are aware something might happen like this it is easy to work out a action plan, but if it takes you by surprise it is only the very fast people with quick reactions that will stop it in time. So anyone out there who feels like they can handle this sort of thing see it you can recreate it in a safe place. If Ford is watching these they are most likely trying to figure it out. I hope my experience helps get it solved right away before some one really gets hurt.
