Those after delivery *and* drove an EV before, what's missing or could be improved?

For those who have never seen Tesla's app - here is what the clear and concise experience looks like:

Oh for the simplicity. I'll stop short of perfection. But using the Ford app compared to that is pure sadness and disappointment.

They should also add auto-lock when walking away, or at least offer as an option. I took this setting for granted since the truck uses keyless entry, but apparently it does not lock automatically. I have the mirrors set to auto-fold when locked, but I never saw them folded. Turns out I've been leaving my truck unlocked all this time!

Folding mirrors at a certain location is also nice. I had this on my Model S which folded the mirrors as I approached to give me a little extra clearance when pulling into my garage. I would not use this on the truck since I park it outside, but I know there are others who can pull into their garages. Having them then unfold automatically once moving forward at a certain speed (say, 15 mph) would be useful as well.

I'm sure this cannot be added in the current truck since they aren't integrated into the bus, but having the homelink/garage door opener activate at a certain GPS location (and close at a certain distance) is very convenient. Tesla's implementation of this is not flawless, but it's pretty good and I'd say it works 98% of the time.

It will have the auto lock feature later this year when phone is a key is activated.

Although I do not meet the "AND have driven an EV" stipulation (does that prevent me from making a valid recommendation?) ...

1. I was astounded there was not a Heads Up Display in the Platinum.
2. BlueCruise "drifts" uncomfortably between lane markings. In addition to being a bit unnerving to the driver and passengers, it is significant enough that someone driving behind me may report me as an impaired driver.
3. Weather radar overlay on the Navigation map.

Not if made in good-faith. Problem was that we had a number of anti-Tesla/anti-Elon-Musk trolls who were shit-posting over many other threads calling people part of a Tesla cult, etc., when they observed what Tesla did well. Tesla got many, many things right when it comes to the EV experience, and Ford is unfortunately relearning some of those lessons the hard way.

(Tesla also trips over its own feet now and then, like the over-rotation toward full self driving at the expense of all other experience aspects of its vehicles. Removing a gear selector because the car can intuitively guess for you in FSD? Bzzt. Offering only a steering yoke because you're not going to need a steering wheel when FSD does its thing? Bzzt. Removing the assistance of radar even for basic adaptive cruise because "humans don't have radar", causing phantom braking for 30% of cars on 2-lane highways at night? Bzzt. But I digress.)

In addition, my goal was to ground the thread from an EV lens. For example, posting "a 600 mile EV because my 44-gallon diesel tank can do that!" in response to this thread is undesirable as well.

As long as you are well-intentioned and the experience item is grounded in the capabilities and experience of EV's, you're welcome.

Agreed on that one for sure. At times it can be less relaxing to babysit BlueCruise/lane centering than it is to just drive yourself. I think the system is just providing steering input to keep the truck away from the lane edges, but it has no "goal" of actually keeping the truck in the center of the lane.

I would have that truck checked out. I haven't had a chance to test it in the Lightning, but Blue cruise does a great job of holding a steady line in our Mach-e.

I've found it wants to hug the right side of the lane way too much.

I only drove it for a few miles on an Interstate highway. It would see the right lane markers, correct and move left until it could see the left lane marker, then back to the right, etc. Left to right extremes over about 5 seconds. I also went through a long sweeping turn to the right, and it kept "bumping" off the left lane markers, again about every 5 seconds.

I agree with @sotek2345, our Mach E doesn't do that either. Every once in awhile it may bounce from one side to the other, but then gets back to normal right away. I wouldn't think the Lightning should be any different. I don't know though since mine is still sitting at the railyard.

What’s so unfortunate is how embarrassingly simple and obvious the majority of these issues are. I work in tech - none of this would fly.

By comparison, Tesla is so much more refined. It’s not even in the same ball park.

Sounds like @Ford Motor Company needs to revisit their current UI/UX + software leadership. Y’all need to do better.

The lock feature on the Lighting is identical to the feature on my Volvos and my former 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I can either use the remote or touch one of the four door handles in a designated spot to either lock or unlock the cars.

I have no intention of using Phone as a Key. My office has a similar system to enter the building after hours and I do not like it.

With all due respect, I think that there are some features on BEVs that are in common with features on ICE vehicles - such as the comments made by @beatle and I regarding vehicle locking. Those should be fair game irrespective of whether or not the experience is related to a BEV, a hybrid or an ICE vehicle.
