Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the model statement above may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with DTC P2797 stored in the SOBDMB and/or the SOBDMC. This may be due to the software in the SOBDMB and/or the SOBDMC.

Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the SOBDMB and SOBDMC to the latest software.

Note: this means the rest of the powertrain system modules (as available) would also get updated at the same time.

Interesting. I would hope that unnecessary battery module replacements weren’t being done when it was actually just this.

No...those would throw BECM DTCs instead.

well mine is at the dealer now because i have the wrench and powertrain malfunction and they called me to tell me i need a battery module replaced

Well okay...you get a wrench light for a lot of things. It would all depend on what the actual DTCs are once the system is scanned that determine the repair path. In the TSB I posted, it specifically says a wrench light with a very specific DTC.

Did this come with any new updates or is the fix in the versions that were online last Saturday (when mine were updated)?

Should have been the version you applied already. They always make the updates available in FDRS before they send out a TSB or SSM about it.

Interesting. I noticed all of these module updates and performed them this weekend via FDRS. Note I have never had the wrench symbol. There was an ABS update that was tied into it as well.

Well truck is back from dealer in record time. Module replaced everything seems to be back to functioning normal

So powertrain on a Lightning includes; PCM, ABS, BECM, GFM2, SOBDM, SOBDMB, and SOBDMC.

Sometimes they send out updates for one or two of these, and sometimes it's a full set.

Update on my repair saga....they have now replaced the heater, the heater wiring harness, the cooling pump and the DC-DC inverter. The Ohms had been reading 1.2 which is below spec but when then replaced the cooling pump there was a small improvement and once they replaced the DC-DC inverter the reading went to 1.61 which met the spec of 1.6. The truck is undergoing field tests (driving and L3 charging) before confirming it 'fixed'. Almost there....maybe.
