It was terrifying to me as a new Lightning owner a year ago as well. Lots of nuances with this beast of a workhorse. Don’t be surprised when “ev” things occur that wouldn’t normally occur in an ice vehicle. I have a continuing issue with “panic braking” . Ie if I stomp on the brake in regenerative braking mode then let off the brake, even tho I expect the “auto parking brake “ to engage cause that’s the setting I chose; the truck may creep or lurch forward uncommanded by accelerator pedal input. It’s kinda scary but if you know it’s coming you can avoid the accident at a stop light. They will fix the software eventually I hope but for now no biggie. It’s a glitch, All new tech has it . Enjoy the new life EV brother it’s great huh
Yea still having fun figuring everything out. Went from a 2017 XL to the lariat lightning, it’s such a comfortable truck. I’m in Florida, the air conditioned seats are an incredible upgrade

If you are looking for Ford to “contact you”, that’s not likely to happen.
Assuming you purchased your Lightning ER after early April…. your Dealer has to submit the paperwork to Ford to initiate the process to receive the Charge Station. Once this occurs, Ford will send it to your home.

The Dealer may not know this, if they don’t sell many ER trucks

The dealer needs to contact Ford, and then you will get an email with a Discount Code. Use that Discount Code to order your charger. You will get an Order Number and then an email that it has shipped. But I did not get any details about shipping. I contacted Parts.Ford a week later and the tech was able to give me a FedEx shipping tracking number; it arrived that day!

An incident with one of the trucks battery packs, this was the genesis of the production hold in the winter/spring of '23 while FoMoCo investigated issues with cell quality in certain battery packs. It's ~assumed~ with out final reports from the MoCo that a defective cell went thermal while being prepared for maintenance charging and eventual shipping of these trucks.
Ouch. Mine was an early build of 2023 MY (late 2022) so mine was built just before that happened. So far so good ;-)

Did you search in your manual? It tells you exactly what to do.
Oh, you mean that 600+ pages of info with a crappy table of contents, and an index that is just as bad . . possibly tried...

If someone cannot find the charging information in the manual, then they shouldn't be driving the truck. While these aren't great manuals, it's right there.

Searching on the words "stopping charging" finds it. Reading the section entitled "DC Charging" shows it on the 2nd page".

I did the same, contacted parts and they said they’d send me the email once the dealership submits the purchase, usually Tuesdays. Then go from there. They actually had to find another mobile charger pack because everything had been taken out of this truck even the floor mats. Definitely staying on it! Truck wasn’t cheap lol I want everything that’s supposed to be included

Hey everyone, searched everywhere but can’t find the answer to this scenario, I do apologize if this is redundant. What exactly happens when you unplug the charger from a DC fast charging station without pushing the uncoupler or unlock button before hand?
I just got my ‘23 lightning ER last week, only have the mobile charger set up in the garage so far and had some extra time will driving around and wanted to try out one of the charging stations in town. Nobody at the dealership told me anything about how to charge or how to use the vehicle in general I was pretty much on my own in that regard so I did not know I needed to push that button before unplugging. It was an EA charge station. I unplugged it super slowly after clicking that button on the handle and holding it there for a while thinking that’s how you stop it from charging, when I got back in the truck it said charge fault, refer to owners manual which I did and then I saw I should push that button first.
Of course I’m paranoid since it’s a brand new truck, I tried charging again later at a different station and it gave me the red ring the first which I just about had a meltdown however it worked the 2nd attempt. Now I’m wondering what exactly happens in that scenario and should I be worried that I screwed up my new truck. I can’t imagine something so simple could damage the vehicle right away as anybody walking by can just unplug the charger and/or it can just happen accidentally. Thanks in advance!
You are not supposed to be able to disconnect the plug when DC Fast charging without either pressing the button on the light ring or ending the session with the app or the charge station in question.

DC charging begins on page 210 , the DC charging lock is on p211-212.

1. Push the coupler unlock button on the
light ring.
2. Press the latch on the charge coupler
and remove it from the vehicle charge
port.

Note: Do not attempt to remove the charge
coupler before you unlock it. Do not use any
kind of tool to try and remove a locked
charge coupler. Doing so can lead to
damage to your vehicle and the charge
coupler.


Note: You can also unlock the cord through
the vehicle access menu. If the cord still
does not unlock, please contact roadside
assistance.

Note: You cannot shift your vehicle out of
park (P) until you remove the charge
coupler.

3. Close the dust cap for the lower
connectors.

4. Press the center right-hand edge of the
charge port door to close.

Charge Coupler Manual Release
In the event that your vehicle does not
unlock the charge coupler, you can
manually release it.

1. Switch your vehicle off.
2. Open the frunk.
3. Remove the outer luggage
compartment covers. See Installing
and Removing the Luggage
Compartment Cover (page 351).
4. Locate the low voltage service
disconnect on the left-hand fender
apron.
5. Press the latch and pull the low voltage
service disconnect to the off position.
6. Locate the manual release ring
7. Pull the manual release ring upward to
detach from grommet.

I thought the Charge Station Pro was send from SunRun. Is this no longer the case?

Sunrun was fired for lack of performance. At least that's the rumor I'm making up. You order it directly from Ford now with a discount code that makes it free, or something like that.

Glad I saw this thread. Instead of trying to figure things out with SunRun I was able to contact my dealer today and had my CSP discount code within a few hours.
