This very well may be a stupid question...but I'm new to the game. I understand the Tesla Supercharger and the necessary NACS adapter. Will the A2Z Stellar Plug allow charging on the smaller Tesla stations? I have attached a photo of a station in Big Timber, Montana. The location doesn't show up on PlugShare for me (Inputted vehicle on PlugShare is a Lightning w/NACS adapter).

Wondering if I should order both A2Z adapters while I wait for the free Ford one.

Don’t think so. Our only options are to use the V3 Supercharger with the NACS adapter or the Destination L2 with an AC Tesla adapter. See my post above.

Just ordered using the code and combination of both. Didn’t quite get that much off. $293.00.

I was able to get it cheaper by using the FORD discount code and bundling the stellar adapter along with Typhoon adapter.

choose the drop down on the Typhoon adapter page to bundle the stellar plug and stack that with the FORD discount promo code.

The stellar plug will allow you to use Tesla
Level 2 chargers and Tesla destination chargers.

The Big Timber location doesn’t look like it’s compatible for CCS based vehicles.

Tesla destination chargers will be around 19 kw and like 80 amps. The one you linked is 150 kW and doesn’t show up as an eligible supercharger we can use with adapter.

No. The Stellar plug is for AC charging (level 2) only. The older V2 (150 kW) Supercharger stations do not speak CCS so will never be able to charge CCS vehicles regardless of what adapters you have.

I remember when the A2Z adapter was first announced and so many on this forum po-po’d the adapter saying they would never buy an aftermarket adapter. Now so many people including myself are wishing they had pre-ordered the A2Z adapter. Funny how changing events can so dramatically affect opinions.

I can get by without the adapter but it is costing me. I have to go out of my way and charge more because I can’t use the Superchargers on the direct route on trips I take regularly. I would go ahead and order an A2Z adapter but I keep thinking to myself, “surely my free adapter will arrive before my next trip”, only to get disappointed.

That adapter is like a carrot on a stick, I keep chasing after it but I just can’t get. I have so much trouble getting rid of stuff I really don’t want two adapters lying around. The free adapter being able to Plug&Charge is the biggest selling point over the A2Z adapter, I really hope the wait is worth it.

Others here have reported the A2Z adapter works just fine for Plug & Charge.

Just have to make sure your truck has received the Tesla update to use P&C with Tesla chargers.

Unfortunately my truck has not been updated, so unable to personally attest to it.

Got notified today by Ford that the shipping date for my Adapter has been changed from May to June! Not surprised but still disappointed! Ohhh well.

One positive is that unless I missed it, they haven't changed anyone from June to July. So maybe Ford is hoping that they will catch up, or at least delaying the inevitable for now.

Nah, it’s just strategically upsetting small groups vs giant groups. Ask the 7/11 folks we know the truth.

So why has no one else started the rumor that the delay is coming from a slight redesign to improve the product and those first 1000 people now have a sub standard product. I'll wait an extra month.

Because it’s not a rumor, it’s already confirmed. The V2 NACS adapters will have built in heat pumps that eliminate the need for preconditioning. Once up to temp they will flip for cooling of the adapter. Confirmed to increase charging speeds up to 210KW.

It’s taken me 6 months on this forum to understand how funny this statement really is. 😁

Having monitored the many build threads including the infamous 7/11 .... I had a clue sooner

I was showing off my Lightning at a local Earth Day & EV owners meet-up. Lots of different EVs and great conversations and a presentation by local electrical utility.
I was having a friendly conversation with a Tesla Rep when the talk turned dark and threatening. Maybe I was stupid to mention that I had an A2Z adapter while I wait until I turn even grayer for my Ford one.. He said, loudly: "If you use it, we will KNOW and we will ban your truck FOREVER!!" Wow. He claimed they would know what adapters were being used. That ended the conversation quickly. Does anyone have an opinion (or actual facts) on this? I know the Tesla NACS adapter user warning language is prescriptive but this was alarming.
Maybe he's just been instructed to scare with this, or he's just being an arrogant dip.... I mean, yes, if I damaged a Supercharger I suppose they could go after me but otherwise, ban me FOREVER? Really?

Sounds more like a guy with a BIG head and an attitude.

Seems the A2Z adapters have been in use long enough that if he knew what he was talking about they would have already shutdown a bunch of Fords and Rivans.
