Using 240v For Brewing Beer

I do not have 240v in my garage, so I usually use propane or 120v for brewing. Today I finally utilized the 240v on the Lightning for heating up water for mashing. Good stuff, figured I'd share

Oh it's not, not at all. It has just enough rust to make it affordable for me. But, manual, 360, short box, single cab, and still runs great.

I current brew via BIAB on our gas stovetop. When we had a whole house generator put in, I had them put in a valve so I could attach a gas burner at will. Haven't done that.

Got the Lightning in May of last year, though about converting to 240v brewhouse, haven't done that either... Great to see.

I'm curious about the electric kettle pot. Been looking for electric cooking appliances to cook with using the Lightning. Would that electric kettle work for making soup or stews?

Unless you’re feeding an army, you just need an Instant Pot for soups, screws, rice, etc.

This is my new go-to thread when dudes on the internet say our trucks don't do truck stuff.

Yes, it is legal in Massachusetts, but illegal in the US per federal law. I think 7 states have legalized it, but the fed could intervene if they chose to. Of course they have no reason to.

I'm hoping they have bigger fish to fry. It looks like Mass has some wiggle room to "get you" if you transport and, of course, you WILL get in trouble if you sell it without all the "paperwork". Luckily I don't do either so I just worry about trying to make it taste good

I don’t have a bag, just the metal basket. I never boiled with it because of the 120v, so I’d just bring it over to my propane kettle. After doing this, I see there are some grains that are left back, so I keep doing this. It’s a great mash tun for lower ABV beers. I upgraded my main kettles and fermenters so I could do 10g batches, but this little Anvil is great for low ABV 5g batches.
