I was checking my Tesla app for the newly installed V4 325KW chargers at Bucee’s at Auburn AL. In the app it is indicated that the chargers are available but no mention if you required to use an adaptor or an adaptor is required.
It is conveniently located on my frequent travels to Louisiana.
Anyone with experience with those V4 chargers?

Bucees at Smith Grove , KY has V4’s and they have Magic Doc Adapters. You can use them with the MAgic Doc or your own adapter.

No experience with those specifically there at that location, but have used v4s and v3s with magic dock and my experience has been that it releases the NACS handle and I use my adapter.

It’s based off what you input in the vehicle details section of the tesla app. If you don’t select that you have an adapter in the profile section it‘ll release the magic dock.
Thanks.
I guess I have to try them the next time traveling I65 to Louisiana.

If it doesn't say "Adapter or NACS Port Required", then that means "It has Magic Dock".

You can also use the Tesla website. On the filters, they have NACS Partner and Other EV. Other EV means it has Magic Dock. If you click on the location, you'll see it says "Adapter Included for Other EVs". Now click on the one on South College Street (not the different symbol on it). It says "Adapter Required for All EVs". That means bring your own.

I don't believe this is correct. You simply FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN TESLA'S APP.

1) Find charger number.
2) Press and hold the button on the handle for 2 seconds, then push into the dock and pull out to detach

It has nothing to do with vehicle selected.

OK SURE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS IS GENERALLY ADVISED. I don't do that, and yet I still get to initiate a charge.

Right.

But you said that the app's vehicle details determine whether the adapter is dispensed or not, and that's not correct. People need to know the right way to use it.

I’ve used them multiple times at that Bucees. One time it was 26 degrees at 630 am and the v4 started off at 170kw but after a few minutes derated to 24kw. it took my 4 chargers to get to 60% as they all did the same thing. Have been back a couple more times and they worked fine. I use my adapter most of time, but occas I’ve used the magic dock.

I have used the V4 chargers several times (there are a bunch in Maine). I haven't had much luck with the magic dock...I've only gotten it to release a couple of times, so I just use my own adaptor. The chargers themselves have all worked really well for me, although sometimes it takes a while...it will limp along at 25 or so KW for a while before it picks up and climbs to 150+. Maybe has to do with pre-conditioning (I admit I don't know what that is...my Model Y would always say it was pre-conditioning for supercharging, but I don't know how or if it works on the Lightning).

I've charged my wife's Mach E there a couple times without issue. That location also has 400 kw Mercedes chargers which are quite nice and not too much more expensive than the superchargers.

I charged at Buc-ee's in Auburn yesterday. Adapter was required at the station I used. This was the first time I had used a Tesla charger. The FordPass app was flaky for the first few minutes. When I went to Public Charging in the app, initially only the map was showing. No charge stations were showing for selection and activation. I switched in and out of the app a few times, and suddenly all the Tesla stations appeared. Everything worked flawlessly after that. I charged from 49% to 80% in 19 minutes.
